I have bought our tickets for Batman V Superman

Actually, I will to see if they chopped some of the plot out.... You know, the part that allows the story to make sense. :helper:

I've never read a comic I my life and it made total sense to me. my 11 and 12 year old had no problem with it not making sense either

Same here. I happened to be aware of the Doomsday arc so that made it cool. Oops. Spoiler alert.

Now we have Affleck's good friend Kevin Smith with his thoughts on Batman v Superman

Episode 241 an hour and four minutes in. Pretty priceless. :helper:

You may be aware, maybe not, that Kevin actually writes Batman comics from time to time. His buddy Scott Mosier and some of his other friends do to and on several different characters. It's pretty interesting stuff. I didn't click your link (I will), but I can imagine he has strong opinion towards how the characters are written and he loves to bust Ben's chops at every chance. I'm sure it's a good one.

So we picked up the DVD over the weekend. I haven't watched the extended one because I watched it with the kids and the extended cut is rated R. Much better the second time around. I now really like this version of Superman. I was thinking about it after watching the movie again and then watching some news. When Superman was created, we thought the US was some great place that did no wrong and protected the world. And Superman stood for Truth, Justice and the American way, he personified America. Fast forward to today and we now know, the US isn't this great place that does no wrong. The US is not some squeaky clean place and this Superman reflects that.

That's a progressive perspective, showing an ability to evolve and adapt to different ideas and grow away from how and what you were originally taught.

Sadly, there's a shit ton of folks of all stripes that are utterly and completely unable to do this.

I've not seen the movie yet and still don't care for how the first one ended. That said, I do want to and will see this movie.

When I first saw man of steel, I completely agree with you on the end. Then after thinking about it, I understand where they were coming from and it made sense in the context of the movie. Now, I am not a comic book guy, so I don't know the 5 million different versions of Superman, but in the first round of Movies, Clark was superman for while before he dealt with Zod. He knew who he was and what he stood for. In this one, Zod coming to earth, made him become Superman. He was just figuring it out. In the end it was Clark's choice, save his home planet or save the planet he grew up on and the only one he knows. I think all of the Superman's before would not have killed Zod, but for this one, it made sense.

Eisenberg's portrayal of Luther was affront to human dignity.

He's got a lot of undeserved haters; that kinda shit is contagious and spreads like wildfire.

He had to contend with some really awful writing, but I still found his performance to be one of the more entertaining parts of the movie. Yeah, it's a really weak, obnoxious, and eye-rolling vision of Luthor, but that's definitely not Eisenberg's fault.

Affleck surprisingly good!

100% agreed with you until the re-watch. The final scene where they are sending him to jail you get a brief glimpse of the Lex we know. I think this movie is what makes Lex into the villain we love. He was this young super rich guy who always got what he wanted until this. Now he has to grow up. I am not sold yet, it will have to see how he plays out in future movies. But the expression on his face when they are shaving his head has that cold and calculating stare.
