In theory I agree but when reality dictates a further drive it's not really fair. Then there is the thing in say back east driving with more stop and go and idling at lights say verses driving 140 miles between towns out west so it's not a simple black and white issue.

You're getting some extremly good gas milage with the 440 then, exceptional. My inline 6 Jeep G.C if youy look at mileage from any forum post is right there at 11-12 in town 14-16 highway...now we all now that manufactures pump up their sticker MPG but reality is across the board it';s always lower. I think the manufacture probably had like 16 in town and 18 highway. I will take my inline 6 over anything you got though....probably one of the best engines ever built and routinely they'll go over 300,000 easily plus you can run them on peanut butter and mexican gas....they donb't care. Only reason they stopped making it was because they brought down the whole Chrysler mpg averageYou should get that fixed. I got that with my 440 roadrunner

West is generally defines by the Mississip[it ...easdt of or west of or you can use the Cintinental divide...either way AZ is firmly in the west.Define West, you are 10 hours southeast of me. There seems to be a bit of stop and go around here (west as possible)
My point is don't put a "sin tax" on the western US because anywhere west of the Miss between town driving it way more than east or s.e Every city is gonna have stop and go but in the eastern us, etc it's not uncommon to drive from one state to the next in an hour...try that in the west.

Not enough! I lived in CA for 15 years; there are countries in Europe where taxes are 2-3x that
Just because states are bigger, that doesn't mean people need to live further from their work or drive more. But I'm not saying that the western US should have higher gas taxes than the east, I think everywhere in the US should have higher gas taxes.

The thing is if youy want to limit peoples drivi g and I'm not trying to be snarky or anything BUT if you want to limit peoples driving EVEN at the current price of gasoline then take away all the new cars an d let them drive the 11-14 mpg rigs of yesteryear. in the end it'll probably be the same but when you are getting 30 mpg in town and 40 highway then even 6 dollars a gallon isn't much.
here's an example. I started my wrenching in 1993 and up until say early 2002 or somewhere around thwere if you saw a customers car who put 25,000 miles on i n a year it was an anomaly. Now days if you see anything nless than 15,000 it's an anomaly. FWIW I average 5500 a year. I see amny come in (these are regular customers) who put 30,000 or more a year. 335 is a good example with his 70 miles a day commute.

There's a bunch of talk in the Portland metro to start using tolls and more road restriction as a means to discourage single vehicle travel & congestion on the roads in the region. Which is kinda shitty considering how lousy the public transit options are to get in/out of the city. Intel, Nike & Columbia are all out in the Western burbs with thousands upon thousands of employees from Portland and Washington state making that commute.

fwiw I bought my rig in Sep. 2011 and it had a little over 98,000 on the ODO. I now have apx 151, ??? and in that 10 years I taken it to Colorado/Utah twice, California and back through nevada once and over to New Mexico (Taos/sante Fe once) , SW NM three times) and all over sw AZ hiking and camping. If I only drove to work and in town I'd probably only put 3, 000 a year. I hardly even drive on the weekend , basically maybe 20 miles on the weekend

@Bob411 — you have to adjust for Chicago in this case. We love a heel turn and don’t appr niceness for its own sake and there’s the whole meanness as a sign of affection/investment/respect. For example, I bag on Deebo because I like Deebo. And booing the QB, chanting “Fire Matt Nagy,” expecting to be existentially thwarted by sports/politics/everything is just sort of a vibe here. The Belushi + Murray sensibility is a legit thing in terms of a sardonic expectation of the worst.
