Good thing my daily commute is only 1.6 miles

Mine is about 5 miles. Time to get that electric skateboard I want.
I remember when Chicago got up to over $5 a gallon. I had to sell my 2005 F150 Lariat. I loved that truck!

<sigh>...fine, let's make it about human nature. At the risk of hijacking the thread, I'll address your accusations and leave it at that. I'll try to keep it nonpolitical.

Let's use a sports analogy, an intense football rivalry between Team A and B. They both have rabid fan bases and really don't like each other. I'm a fan of A, but not to the point where I paint my face when I go to a game, and I don't lose sleep if we lose a game. We had a stretch of losing seasons, but got a new quarterback last year and he was supposed to be "the guy". He was going to turn our team around and bring great glory. The problem is, he's just another mediocre quarterback and hasn't been all that effective. That situation puts the fan base in a few buckets:

1. Our teams sucks, we can't win, I'm jumping ship and rooting for B now.
2. Our QB isn't getting it done and I'm not afraid to say it. Still love my team, but won't miss the guy when he's traded.
3. Our team is the best. Always has been and always will be. Don't dare say anything bad about our QB.

I'm firmly in bucket 2. There seem to be a lot of folks in 3 that go to great measures to defend their QB. That's fine, it's human nature, and the folks in bucket 3 tend to dislike those in 1 & 2.

One of my friends at work has one of those & he's ridden it for a few years. He came in one day, head to toe covered in road rash after taking a header at speed. fucking brutal. Good thing he was wearing a helmet cause that was probably the only part of his body with all the skin intact.

I rarely ride my bike to work anymore. I used to do it, but sitting in traffic on a bike sucks. Lane splitting is not legal here, unfortunately. Maybe this Spring I'll give it a try. The traffic has been less with folks working hybrid schedules.

Don't tell my wife that. lol
A friend of my oldest son brought his over last week and we rode for a bit. I left it on Eco mode the whole time. Even Standard mode scared me and there was a turbo mode too!

people who drive further are a bigger burden on road infrastructure, environment, etc; so paying proportionally more is good
