TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — The American Automobile Association (AAA) has announced average gas prices in Tucson are up 23.19% compared to last year at $3.882 a gallon.

This price inches closer to the highest recorded average for unleaded gas Tucson saw back in 2008 during the Great Recession.

According to the federation of motor clubs:

  • Average price of diesel gas increased by 28.54%
  • Average price of regular gas increased by 22.56%
  • Average price of mid-level gas increased by 21.28%
  • Average price of premium gas increased by 20.4126%
Compared to last week and a month ago, average gas prices in Tucson have gone up by 1.06% and 5.53%, respectively.


The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics added to the conversation confirming the average price of gas has gone up by an astounding 40%compared to this time last year.

Ultimately, Arizona's average of $3.747 is about 5.44% above the national average of $3.543 per gallon.

The working from home has definitely reduced trips to the pump. I've been going in a few days a week the last few months though. Our official return to office is mid-March, but we're going hybrid so it won't be a daily commute at least.

If I ever have to commute to the office (unlikely, but you never know), it is a 70 mile trip one way. Thankfully it would only be once a week. But I'm not expecting that to happen. Because we have a working pharmacy in our office building, they have been hyper-careful about moving people back to the office.

Wow, that's a helluva commute. I hope they don't expect you to come back daily. That'd be painful.

Yes...that would suck. I did that commute daily for about 3 years with my last company. I'd leave home at 5AM to avoid the worst of the traffic.

Check out when the United States exported more oil than it imported.

During the Carter admin inflation was nuts. Reagan took office and it stopped. Now I’m not saying this guy or that guy yada, yada, yada, but, someone knows how to slow it down and stop it. When someone says up there I can’t control it well, someone’s lying.

I worked for a global petrochemical engineering company for several years...kinda got some insight during that time.
 
Cry me a river. I have a 125 mile round trip commute, in office 5 days a week ,and we have the highest gas prices in the lower 48. Just how it goes.
