Give me something to watch on Netflix

I watched this one a long time ago, but recently remembered it. It is a great historical horror program and murder mystery show starring Sean Bean. Robert Peel, Mary Shelley, Charles Dickens, William Blake, Ada Lovelace all show up as characters.

Not Netflix but on Hulu they made a show for the Stephen King Novel 11.22.63
The book, cool, loved it. The show? I bailed halfway through Episode 2. Sometimes I just want to see the story come to life. STOP CHANGING THINGS FOR NO REASON!!!!!

I started watching Ken Burns' Vietnam last night. Wow. I expect his documentaries to be good, but this is out of the ball park.

One thing I didn't understand, though. Why did the French fight so hard to stay in Vietnam after WW2? What was in it for them? National pride? Vietnam didn't seem to have any particularly valuable resources for France to plunder.

The French made a pile of money from Vietnam; the literature of Marguerite Duras touches on this here and there if you're interested. Her work is fantastic.

But the benefit was more than the fruits of Vietnamese labor and rubber exports; it's 'presence.' Colonialism did not die gently, and traditional powers had to watch their influence and might decline in the face of multiple factors.

Having client states nurtured national egos (and of course, still does). And it helps forward one's agenda, etc.

We watched about 10 minutes of the new Chris Rock standup special last night. He is spectacularly unfunny in it.

Roma is pretty good. Not sure it quite deserves the hype is getting but it's incredibly well made. I found myself admiring the technical aspects more than the movie itself to be honest. But there are a couple of breathtaking single shot scenes that are worth watching for alone.

Watch it on the biggest screen possible.

Watched the new Ken Jeong comedy special, good, not falling on the floor good but definitely funny and worth the time. Also watched Joe Rogans last special...that one was funny

I'm half way through Umbrella Academy. Fun so far. Kinda takes the cheesy tropes of superheroes like the Xmen, some of the James Gunn-esqe sound track fun, a dash of time travel, and throws it into the blender.

I thought it looked like a teens show. How is for us old fuckers?

Jessica Jones and The Punisher got axed. Although Jessica Jones is getting a third season before it goes into the grave.

To think Gerard Way used to just be a chubby kid that bought video games from me. Boy makes me proud.
