Gibson buys Mesa Boogie

Marshall 1960B with V-30's. Mesa 1 x 12" with EVM-12L, homemade 1 x 12" w/ Eminence Delta Pro, Avatar 1 x 12" with Greenback, Ampeg 8 x 10", and I guess you could count the Mesa-Boogie Scout 1 X 12" because you can separate the amp from the cab. Also a greenback without a home, which leads me to a question. I think the answer is yes. Can I swap the speaker in the homemade cab which is 8 ohms with the 16 ohm Greenback, which then becomes a 16 ohm cab?

Make a mini stack of 12" cabs!

I'd like to get the Mark Five:25 head. Change my mind.
My 5:25 Express+ (pictured earlier in the thread) is in the general ballpark:

  • Apocalyptic volume
  • EL84s
  • 5-band graphic EQ
  • Four channels
  • Wattage selection
  • Comprehensive footswitch, etc.

So it's at least in the same zip code as the Mark Five.

Mine is always on the clean channel and that gets you in the Lonestar neighborhood — headroom for days, so it make a great pedal platform. Each "channel" setting definitely has its own character and I have to assume the Mark Five is the same.

It's well made and comparatively light. I've replaced the tubes once in 2-3 years of ownership. Also, I'm using a 16ohm 1x12" and it sounds great.

What else do you want to know?
