Question: Do you foresee a time when saxophone becomes common again in popular music?

Wow. That's what you got from that post?
Stop trying to enforce your definition, which is completely at odds with the generally accepted definition.
Go make your edits here, and see how long they stand up to scrutiny.

I'm done arguing with a brick.
You created a terrible definition no one here agrees with using words that don't appear on that page. And even if they did, one person =/ common usage.

You ignored my real world examples as well as multiple written journalistic examples of the word pop associated with NWA. Because it was inconvenient to your unsupported argument. Never ever conceding anything when shown evidence.

I would bet you cannot find a single working musician who does not listen to some kind of pop music. Go to Berklee school of music ask students and faculty. Ask your favorite jazz guitarist. Ask anyone on this forum that performs music live. The idea that it is music for teenagers is so misguided it is laughable. It's just pure smug.

I will admit my definition was a but of an exaggeration, but not by much. The Archies, Taylor Swift, the Monkeys and the Jonas brothers are examples of musicians commonly considered to make pop music.
aka bubblegum music. This has been a constant since I started listening to music in the mid 60's. We all knew the Monkeys were putting out pre fab music for us kids. There WAS the Saturday morning tv show to back that presumption up. It was pop.

Sabbath, Zeppelin, BOC, Skynyrd, Floyd, etcetera were and always will be Rock bands, despite their popularity.

quote
Therefore, the term "pop music" may be used to describe a distinct genre, designed to appeal to all, often characterized as "instant singles-based music aimed at teenagers" in contrast to rock music as "album-based music for adults".[4][10]

quote
Although pop music is seen as just the singles charts, it is not the sum of all chart music. The music charts contain songs from a variety of sources, including classical, jazz, rock, and novelty songs. As a genre, pop music is seen to exist and develop separately.[8]

quote
Although popular music sometimes is known as "pop music", the two terms are not interchangeable. Popular music is a generic term for a wide variety of genres of music that appeal to the tastes of a large segment of the population, whereas pop music usually refers to a specific musical genre within popular music.

Pop music often borrows elements from other styles such as urban, dance, rock, Latin, and country; nevertheless, there are many key elements that define pop music. Identifying factors usually include short to medium-length songs written in a basic format, also known as perrypoetry

most in line with the tastes and interests of the urban middle class

So yes, I paraphrased all this into my snarky description

My main point is that 'pop' and 'popular' music are not the same, despite many people erroneously thinking they are interchangeable. Flam's comment that everything is pop but military, traditional, art and worship kind of highlights that fallacy. Pop is a genre, one of many within popular music.

I really don't care if a copy editor uses pop and popular interchangeably. It doesn't make them correct.
