Concerts - Favorite of 2016 and Looking Forward To 2017

Just got back from Amon Amarth in rand Rapids, MI

They were excellent. I had a pretty good place to stand, right next to the guy doing the light show on one of those mixing board-looking lights controllers that has the flip-up computer screen. Separated of course by a metal rail, but I could've reached over and touched his board, I was that close. The place was sold out and we were packed in like sardines :(

Bon Iver at Merriweather was fantastic but I was so beat I couldn't make the Tool show in Hershey the next day which I was severely bummed about. Guess I need to get in better shape to have multiple concert stamina. Next show is possibly Dave & Tim this Saturday if we end up finding a decent deal on tickets. Also buying my wife GNR tickets for her bday, few more hundred dollars blown. :embarrassed:

So far for me it's been a Scandinavian concert year. I've been to 4 shows, and all the headliners have been Scandinavian.

1. Amorphis (Finland)

2. Avatar (Sweden)

3. Amon Amarth (Sweden)

4. Evergrey (Sweden)

I blame it on @Dexter Inferno

I went to a Rancid concert back in 2003, and a Symphony X show broke out  (they were both playing in the same building, same night, but different rooms)

Just saw Crack The Sky Friday at a local small theatre. Kickass. I only knew two songs before going, I am sure I heard one or two others they played before. Exceeded my expectations by alot. I am a fan now. John Palumbo was back with them, not sure if he was 100% but sang really good. Looked like it was physically demanding for him.

Encore was pretty cool-Surf City interspersed with several Beatles songs.

I haven't seen them in decades, but they put on one hell of a show

I'm seeing John Prine on Saturday. I've seen him maybe a half dozen times over the years—the first time in the 80s with The Cowboy Junkies opening, the last time was a few years ago at the Ryman—and he never disappoints. Songs like "Sam Stone" and "Hello in There" are still absolutely devastating, "In Spite of Ourselves" and "Dear Abby" are still hilarious, and I continue to be in awe of his skill as a writer. I'm really looking forward to this one.

Has anyone here seen the Meat Puppets in recent years? Disaster or enjoyable? There's a free show in Santa Fe on Saturday night.
