College football jam.....

I think Louisville could've played with anybody, the way they played last night. And Florida just didn't take 'em seriously enough.

The second-best team in the country is on right now

I still think a 'Bama - Oregon bowl game would've been the best BCS game.

We'll see how ND does, maybe I'm letting my hatred of 'em shortchange my opinion of their 2012 team.

Yep. I was hoping they would look good. Given that Florida stunk it up against a much lower ranked opponent, and given that OR seems to be playing well (35-17 tonight), it is entirely possible that OR would have defeated Alabama.

Apparently Florida? :embarrassed:

I don't think Florida was over-rated to me it was plain to see that they didn't want to be in a bowl game playing a shit team. They didn't take the opponent seriously, the fans didn't buy tickets for the game, I really think it was a matter of not giving a damn about the game.

In the regular season they beat South Carolina, LSU, Texas A&M, and Florida State. They beat more top ten teams than any team in the country. A much better regular season record than either Oregon or Kansas State.

If you guys remember, I told you Kansas St. was a nobody. It's just unfortunate that they played Oregon. I would have liked to see Oregon play someone decent so they could have been exposed as the fraud they are. I guarantee Florida would have beat Oregon.

Wow, you guys really don't have much of a handle on this football thing. Oregon is not a good football team.

Rev, I respect your college football opinions much, but excusing Florida's loss to Louisville in a BCS bowl game is not really sticking here. I think Florida's lucky they didn't play Oregon. Very lucky. I'm basing that on on-field performance.

That being said, I will have to wait three more years before the Nittany Lions can even be eligible for a bowl appearance...

Gotta agree with cuffdc here. Not feeling like showing up and winning a game they supposedly can win does not make me respect Florida's ranking in this case. Just my opinion of course, and I know I look at football much differently than you do, Rev. But still, I think a ranked team needs to win its games, whether during the season or after. According to you, Oregon is a shit team, so according to your reasoning, Florida would not have given a crap about the game, not shown up, and lost.

Did I mention that Penn State won't be bowl eligible for three more years? Oh, I did?

At least O'Brien is staying for next year.

I'm not defended them, I just know what happened. When they ran out on the field it was obvious their heart wasn't in it. The fact that they had that attitude makes me want to puke. But the fact remains throughout the regular season they were a much better team than the showed on Wednesday. I think that had they played a top level team their preparation would have been different and they would have been fired up for the game. It reminds me of when Alabama was beat by Utah, Alabama was clearly the better team with better athletes, but they didn't give a damn about the game so they sucked it up, and got embarrassed. I lay most of the blame on Muschamp for letting the team have that type of mental attitude.

The truth of the matter is Louisville was only in the game because they were the best team in the Big East. The Big East gets an automatic bid even though they don't deserve one. So you end up with team that shouldn't even be there playing the #3 team in the country. That is a slight to the good team. They had the toughest schedule on the country lose one game and they get stuck with the who gives a shit bowl. Florida should be embarrassed by that game, but it doesn't mean they are a bad team or were over rated, it means they are not mentally tough and are immature. Hopefully they learned their lesson.

I have no respect for the Big East. And this year (seems to be more and more most years), it was hard to respect the Big Ten.

I don't really know of any team that wants to lose a bowl game. Doesn't make sense to me.

Oregon is a team that is mediocre and looks good because they play in a lousy conference and they beat up on lousy teams. They beat one ranked team this season and that was in the bowl game. Big deal. But from a player's perspective #3 vs. #4 means something. #3 vs. #22 is a game you play on Homecoming day to make your team look good. Not a game a one lose team with the toughest schedule in the country deserves. They got fucked in the bowl selection. The fans knew it (they only sold 7,000 tickets), the media knew it, and the team knew it, and it showed in there performance.

I don;t think they wanted to lose, I think they felt like they got slighted. I think they had a chip on their shoulder, and they didn't prepare well because they didn't take the other team seriously. Even a sub par team can beat you if are not prepared and didn't put any effort into prepping for the game.

Wouldn't it have been a better Fuck You to the bowl selection system if Florida had beaten the shit out of them, though?
