Coffee Madness!

Starbucks has a clover

I will try that.

I've found the quality of Starbucks clover brewed coffee will always be limited by how attentive the employees are in cleaning the machine on a regular basis.

If they don't stay on top of regular cleaning, the coffee will taste awful.

I have a pretty cool grinder. To brew I usually just do a simple pour. I have a French press I have used at times, but I'm not convinced that I like that product better than just a pour.

I rarely use my french press anymore but it's the only brewing method I currently have that doesn't filter through some paper media.
It's more of a pita to clean, grind consistency and size are more critical than some other methods & I'm not super fond of the sediment. That said, there are some coffees that are better unfiltered and when I roast one of those up, the press can be a more satisfying cup.

I usually rotate different preparations. Some times I grind up some beans, some time I just pull down a bag that's already ground. Some days I experiment. Some days it's damn, just get made as quick as I can continue to stand up. Today however, I was Heisenberg.

Those are some nice machines y'all got there. Our go to is a Breville with a built in burr grinder. For our commercial stuff, we use either a grindmaster, or Bunn grinder. I mentioned in another post that I just happen to own a coffee roasting company. My son does the day to day roasting, but the whole family's involved. We sell on amazon ( Amazon product ASIN B07HNSC5MS ) or at our site, www.springheeldjack.coffee.

My wife and I have been roasting our own beans for going on 20 years. We just used a little Behmor roaster that looked like a toaster oven. About three years ago, we took the leap and bought a professional roaster. It does around 3.5 lbs at a time and we've really outgrown it. Next stop is a 12 kilo roaster, price tag $27,000. Yikes.

We had been operating for about 6 months when we decided to send the hosts of Last Podcast on the Left some coffee. Since we took our name from one of my favorite episodes (UK Horrors). Well, they mentioned us on the podcast. Within an hour of them posting the episode we started getting orders. We actually got to know them a little bit and they've mentioned us several times and its really helped. Then we kind of hooked up with some local tattoo shops (we provide them cold brew) and with word of mouth, we're looking to maybe turning a profit this year (but then again, we need that roaster). A couple of you ordered and we either packed those last night or will do it tonight. My son started a tradition where we include a hand-written note with every order from our site. At first, it was easy. But now, we spend a lot of time writing notes. Our customers are more like friends.

Anyway, my daily coffee is our Black Phillip (from The Witch), which is a South American/Indonesian blend. Lately, I've been making American Crow (named for a local tattoo place). The Black Phillip is just a good cup of coffee - it's a medium/dark roast and has great body and notes of chocolate and caramel. Basically, this is the coffee that you're thinking of when you just want a good cup of Joe (or Phillip). We sell single source beans, but we've found that by blending we can get really good flavors that stay consistent.

We also sponsor a paranormal/true crime/horror movie review podcast called FRIGHTDAY. It's not nearly as profane or popular as Last Podcast, but it's a good podcast.

I'm gonna talk to my son and see if we can't work out a Mark Wein discount.

Also, our cold brew is fucking amazing. We just bought a canner, so hopefully, we'll be able to ship canned nitro cold brew within the next few months.

Did you know that Alan Alder, inventor of the AP, recommends reusing each filter disk up to 8 times?

For the coffee that I generally brew in the AP, 5-6 times seems to be a good number of uses
Hrmmm...I'll have to try this.

I love my AP.

I bought a bag of your beans, should be here tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

My brother said they are phasing the Clover press out. They dont make money with it.

I will try your beans.

Just decent beans, ground fresh at 4am, and into my trusty Mr Coffee. I don't have the time or inclination to fuck around at that time of the morning. It's ready when I get out of the shower, which is a huge plus. I use nearly the whole pot between my 2 cups before I leave and my travel mug for the drive.

My wife however, does have the time and inclination. She has a French Press and a Mini Espresso pot. They do make a good cup of coffee, but that's it. A cup (mug) of coffee. It would take way too much effort for me to brew individual cups to fill my required order. Does anyone make a half gallon French Press??

This is how I roll.

I drink 1 decaf latte per day. Caffeine affects my blood pressure (as it does with many people)

A timer on a coffee pot is a lifesaver. Prep the coffee the night before and wake up to a FRESH POT!

But I'm with you. There are a ton of the artisan roasters that are doing super light roasts. People seem to like them, but I just don't get it. A lot of them have a vegetable kind of taste. I don't need that. I like my coffee coffee-flavored.

Speaking of vegetables...I used to drink a V-8 every day. Right out of the can. Then, last year some time, my son calls me over. He said the can felt weird, like there was no pressure. He squeezed the can and out from under the rim of the top came squirming a bunch of maggots. I nearly puked and I haven't had a V-8 since.

I just placed my order for some Old Scratch and Dagon :thu:

I do, actually.

Wife bought me this for my birthday a few years ago.

Works perfectly for travel or if I’m working at a location without good coffee options.

Has a spot for grounds. Brew any time, just add hot water, keeps coffee hot for about 10 hours.

I don’t bring a grinder. But I should.

When I prep the night before the coffee taste different. It's like the natural air the get put in the water when being force out of the facet/fridge bubbles out over night and... ...well, it just taste different. I've tried doing it different times in my life and each time it just tastes weird. Then I'm standing there wondering how the hell does it taste weird.
