Aw, shit! I Just saw that Guild released at January NAMM a new X175 with DeArmonds!

That is a dream machine. Love the blue color. Hollow body, DeArmonds, Bigsby, depending on the price it'll be stiff competition for Gretsch.

i covet it.

Welp. The expenditure has been fully authorized by the household comptroller. Now I just gotta sort out what I want.

Anyone else find daydreaming about guitar shopping fun but actually shopping for the thing you need/want kind of a slog?

What's your sensibility pulling toward these days? Hollow bodies? SGs? Something different?

So, I’m kinda torn in a couple directions. Partly I’m interested in something with humbuckers and lots of knobs/switches/options for tonal Swiss Army Knife purposes for recording.

In this scenario, I’m probably most interested in some kind of non-strat style trem. The JM trem system is my fave type. I’ve never owned a Bigsby so I’m not sure I’m into em. I like the way they sound, but I’m always squirrelly about tuning issues.

My other main jones is for a guitar with 2 P90s. Mostly looking for solid construction and playability—with nifty looks if possible.

And the of course there’s always the wildcard scenario of getting taken in by something with interesting vintagey pickups, wild looks, and/or fab historical associations such as Gretschyness and Rickenbackerosity.

I’m a sucker for the looks and the sound of SGs, but I’ve not been super keen on the ones I’ve owned and Gibson’s iffiness in the QC department puts me off. I always think that an ES-type semi hollow should be my bag, but...I‘ve never encountered THE ONE.

Probably not on the hunt for a big hollowbody because my Godin scratches that itch and (not that it’s a thing right now) but feedback struggles are real on stage at and I’m not sure I want to double the fun.

Seems like a Guild S200T might tick a lot of those boxes .

It's got low-output humbuckers, funky switching with bass-cut, and a trem type that I've never used but which definitely is not a strat style. It has quirky vintage looks, and splits the difference between an SG and a Jaguar.

I'm saying all this having never played one, but I really like the look and idea of them.

Good Lord, it's hideous!
Perfect!

I still stand by my choice. :helper:

The guitar you want is this one:

EVH_STRIPE_01-363x1024.jpg

Hear me out.... It's bold and makes a statement.... but it's lightweight and comfortable.

It has the vintage style of the dano neck... with the boldness of a single humbucker that says "oh yeah...".

It has a floyd if you want to get crazy... but it's not rear recessed so it will stay in tune even if you break a string or change that low E to drop D (D-Tuna already included :) )

Now I want one too. :helper:
