who's they? are they racists? cause fuck them if they are.

Anger and intolerance are the enemies of correct understanding. - Gandhi

Before you go ape shit, know that I am not trying to say that racism should be tolerated.

Racism stems from generations of bitterness and ignorance. It's not something that can be legislated away.

As much as the extremist are completely deplorable, I do not think they are the most concerning part of our present situation. It's more middle of the road people, who would never use derogatory terms to describe another race, but still harbor weird feelings about different races because of how they perceive their behavior. This has everything to do with socioeconomic situations and fuck all to do with race, but these people are ignorant of that fact.

At some point, we have to be mature enough to have a real conversation and try and help them see the light. If we just say fuck them they're racist, things will never change.

I agree that I"m more troubled by the widespread nature of everyday, casual racism and permissive attitudes towards the denial of basic rights to others.

But I think those casual racists and bigots are both becoming more comfortable in their beliefs, and more harsh, because of the actions of extremists. Every "two sides" moment for Nazis helps create "All lives matter!" drunk uncles. And drunk uncles encourage Nazis. It's quite holistic to me.

Thanks for clarifying. I can see where you're coming from.

What I'm referring to isn't the drunk uncle. I'm talking about his wife that tells him to stop because she knows he's being an ass.

Let's forget the rest of your post for now.

We must always be careful to avoid misspelling Gandhi's name, since the word 'ghand' has a specific meaning in Hindi.

God damn it. I should really post from a computer, or I could just try and play it off like I did it for you.

Haha, so I looked it up. That is the most indirect way I've ever been called an ass.

^^^

They still look to me like some group of Slytherins hungry late at night and headed down to Subway to buy a sandwich, and maybe stop off at the GAP. It is just weird looking.

you know there was a day when conservatives used to embrace the type of terrorists like Irv Rubin and the Jewish Defense League (JDL) who used to bomb American Nazis (I'm not saying that's good, just a contrast to today's situation). Nazis never had a seat at the table of American politics until now. Trump's supporters have no history with the Republican Party or American conservative politics in any intelligent way.
