Baseball 2018

Giants trade for Andrew McCutchen for two prospects and an MLB player not yet named. They get $2.5 million in the deal, and the Pirates get $500,000 in international pool money.

So the Giants could be a 79 win team this year. Awesome.

Henry Jones
This team could hypothetically send up to 9 players to the all star game:

Buster Posey (5x All Star)
Madison Bumgarner (4x All Star)
Johnny Cueto (2x All Star)
Mark Melancon (3x All Star)
Andrew McCutchen (5x All Star)
Evan Longoria(3x All Star)
Brandon Crawford (2015 All Star)
Joe Panik (2015 All Star)
Brandon Belt (2016 All Star)

That’s highly unlikely to happen. None of those guys are the players they were just a few years ago. The Giants are more likely to win between 75 to 83 games this year. The question is whether 83 wins is enough to get you the second wild card. If they beat up on the Padres and win the season series agains the D-Bags, they’re in. But they could also lose 90 games.

Phillies will be a better shade of turd this year. Really not sure what to think of the Kapler signing, seems like a meat head space cadet... But if they don't get at least one more decent pitcher, it won't matter who is managing that shit show of a rotation.

Phillies will be predictably bad. But, depending on Kapler, could still finish in 2nd place in this terrible division.

I doubt it. The Rocks barely slipped in last year with 87 wins.

Did you pull those numbers out of your ass, or did they come from someplace less credible, such as bleacher report?

Do you really think you can predict a teams record within 5%

LOL, Bleacher Report sucks.

Fangraphs had the Giants at about 85 wins at that time. Personally, I think that's on the high side. Yes, they could win 85 games if everything breaks right for them. But the reality is they won 68 games last year and are praying for health this year. They're more likely to be a .500 ballclub or worse. Same goes for the Mets.

Interesting that Fangraphs is predicting a big slide for the Rockies - 79 wins.

I disagree. I don't know that they will make the playoffs again but the starting pitching will likely be better than last year. Desmond is going to play better than last year. David Dahl will back. They really didn't have anyone have a 'stat anomaly' last year, so predicting them to lose 16 more games has me scratching my head. Then again - Fangraphs predicted 79 wins for them last year as well.....and they were wrong.

Wow, the Mets signed Todd Frazier. They could win 82 games this season. LOL.

As much as it pains me to say, they could compete for a wild card spot if their pitching stays healthy. That's a big IF though. They'll finish second in the division if it's any consolation.
