2024 Concert Thread

We're wrapping up 2024 with:
  • Leon Bridges at the Anthem 11/08
  • DMB at MSG 11/22 & 23
But last week just over a year after I took my oldest to see Queen at the CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore, we saw arguably the greatest living legend, objective musical genius, and septuagenarian that sounds like he's still in 30s or 40s, Mr. Stevland Hardaway Morris. That he's 74 is mindblowing enough, but that he's still got that voice, holy effn shite. If you haven't seen him, you need to. It's like watching a greatest hits show, but he could've done at least two more full concerts of just hits...his catalog is just so deep. He also has been featuring a new song that's quite good, “Can We Fix Our Nation's Broken Heart.” It speaks to our need to recognize and focus on all we have in common rather than hate based on the few things we disagree...classic Stevie themes.

HUGE band:
  • 6 piece horns
  • 5 harmony/backup singers
  • 1 drummer & two percussionists
  • 2 guitarists
  • 2 additional keys players
  • AND he also had a 12-piece string section that was feature in Village Ghetto Land
He and this show was about REAL music played by LIVE musicians. No sequencers, just a "pop-ochestra" that allowed him to reproduce all the sounds from the records live. Absolutely mind blowing. Barry & Michelle also came to show, which adds to the coolness.

I had hoped to see the BEAT tour too, but I don't pay over face for tix and they essentially sold out the Warner (barring resellers). Also, my favorite KC-era is the THRAK-era. The double trio that dropped the ball in not touring as Three of a Perfect Pair...it was right there for them, literally theirs.
 
The Soulshine show at MSG on 11/24 was finally announced today...already going to be there for DMB on Friday & Saturday, but not sure we want to add this third show...hmmm...

Great show. If you're in one of the cities they're playing it's a can't miss.

Emma Ruth Rundle is next up in at the end of the month
 
Wow, Bonnie Raitt put on a fantastic show in Nashville Monday night! She's 75 and still just absolutely killing it. We are actually thinking about flying to Jacksonville, FL to catch her again.

Her opening act, The James Hunter Six, put on an impressive show as well. Kind of 70s soul meets rockabilly.
