2023 concert thread

Not paying $200 for anything anywhere. Most likely The year will see me only going to see local bands.

Got tickets for Scorpions in Mannheim in May. It was supposed to be this year and have Mammoth WVH supporting. Now it looks like Wolfi is going out with Metallica.

I still look forward to seeing Mathias Jabs before they retire or get truly painfully old.

Looking to hit a few of the Tedeschi Trucks Band shows at the Warner in DC.
Big Head Todd & the Monsters are coming back to the Hamilton, would love to see them again.
Will also be going to the closest Peter Gabriel show I can get to once he announces U.S. dates.
This also goes for Nickel Creek when they announce more U.S. tour dates...looking forward to the new album too.
Need to get my Avett Bros fix in 2023 since I didn't get any in 2022.
More DMB.
Maybe Billy Strings when he swings back around
Robert Cray Band (keep missing them and it's annoying).
Also need to finally see a few Widespread Panic shows. We got a new dog this summer, so I wasn't able to go to the local shows MGM Grand in National Harbor.
There's sure to more and we'll miss stuff too.
If Stevie Wonder does a show in the DMV I'd have to go.
Living Colour too.

Wanted to do Springsteen, but I didn't get preselected and the public sale was everything over $300 a ticket. I'm not that big of a fan...that's 3 - 5 tickets to artists I like far more.

2023? I don’t even know what I’m doing next week. You guys are far more organized than me.

I have a ticket for Sunn O))) in Denver on January 31. There’s not much else I’d drive all the way to Denver at night for, and I’m only going to that one because a friend is driving. I am disappointed that Metallica aren’t doing shows here, I’d buy two nights to see Pantera and Metallica twice. Samantha Fish is coming to town in January, I’ll probably take my daughter because she enjoyed the show we saw last summer.

Who will you be seeing there?
The way it works is that tickets go on sale December 1st and they're always sold out in no time. But the lineup isn't finalized for months — it will be Spring before they publish it.

Telluride is a spectacular event, this will be my fifth. I think that speaks volumes when you can sell out a festival in an hour and nobody knows who's playing.

Hoping for a great year. This is the same thing that I have been hoping for over the past five or so years.

I picked up 2 for this show.

I thought about going to see Weyes Blood but GA tix we’re $99 bucks at the Riv — a gross midsize theater that hasn’t had a single Penny put into its upkeep since I was in high school. And now they’re apparently selling assigned seats in this tragic pile — the only reasonably priced ones being $37 + fees on the back three rows of the upper balcony.

The last time I went to the Riv the bathrooms (which are downstairs below the main floor) flooded out and there was 4 inches of liquid standing in the whole downstairs toilet zone.

So, yeah, no.

And plenty of midsized acts coming through town are playing joints experimenting with the new dynamic pricing model and concert going in general in Chicago is gentrifying to a point where it doesn’t feel particularly rock and roll.

Standing in toilet water for a $10 ticket = punk rock cred. Wading through toilet water for a $99 show = do you feel cheated?!?!

I've never really connected with Eric Johnson but he comes here pretty frequently and I always felt like I should check out a show. He's coming around again on March 4th so I just picked up a ticket.

99 American bucks for fucking Weyes Blood?!

I was actually listening to Weyes Blood yesterday and thought 'you know what, I'd really like to see her live'. But not at 99 dollars. If it was the real Karen Carpenter back from the grave I'd pay $99.

@dmn23 Did you go to see Sierra Ferrell a while back, or am I confusing you with someone else?
She is coming to Santa Fe in a few months but I don't have tickets for that show. However I do have tickets for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and she's playing there.

The lineup isn't completely nailed down yet but this is what they have so far:

Sam Bush Band
Nickel Creek
Sierra Ferrell
Sarah Jarosz
Full Cord
Gregory Allen Isakov
String Cheese Incident
Chris Thile
Greensky
Leftover Salmon
Mary Chapin Carpenter
Yonder Mountain String Band
Punch Brothers
Bela Fleck & the Flecktones
Peter Rowan
Emmylou Harris w/ Watchhouse
