2019 Concert thread

YOB
dec 7th is love

I had been avoiding the venue based on some friends feedback and it was pretty meh. Shame because a slew of good shows are booked at this place. Low stage, flat floor, moderately small venue. All three bands were mixed super bass heavy, especially YOB.
Blackwater Holylight was good. Earthless was like their albums; good performance but doesn’t hold my attention for long. YOB was great.

This is actually for 2020, but I'm not sure if there's a thread yet.
Seeing Jimmy Webb tonight. Next Thursday is Booker T. Jones. Eric Johnson on the 23rd and Leo Kottke on February 10th. There may be a couple others in between but I can't remember.

Black Sabbitch Friday night (all-girl/All-Sabbath)!

4/20 Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush !
I saw Frank 8 years or so ago. It was a three hour show. I don't know how he does it physically. He plays more notes in one show than most guitarists play in 7. That's a modest estimate.

He did a great version of Red House.

Here we go...

@B Valley How was Jimmy Webb? Saw him a dozen years ago, it was memorable but strange.

He had some great stories. I was expecting a two hour medley of his hits and was pleasantly surprised. He sang some songs and talked about Glen Campbell and Linda Ronstadt. Met him after the show. He's a great guy, very friendly and humble. I'd go see him again in a heartbeat.

Saw Booker T. Jones a couple nights later. Talk about stories, he's got tons. After the show I got to talk to him about his B3. I wasn't even aware he played guitar and turns out he's a very fine player. I wasn't aware of how many songs he'd written. His list of song credits is a mile long.

Thanks. I've worked with some very successful people, but don't think I could handle meeting Jimmy Webb. He's like a God to me. Just the story of how he came to LA, and then what he did within two years ... I know what he did. He spent endless hours alone, killing himself to make something beautiful. Like Prince used to do.

Jimmy Webb is the shit.
