2018 Concert Thread

Will probably go see Richard Thompson at Popejoy

It would take an act of God to get me to a large festival - they have nothing to do with music. Seas of dipshits taking selfies, 45 minute sets ... fuck that.

I'll go see King Gizzard somewhere. Missoula? Boston? Austin?

Ok, here is the first set of tix I am going to try to get. Safeco in early August is pretty nice. And I want to take at least one of my kids, and perhaps another, if they want to go.

I'll be in NOLA a week from now to see Richard Thompson at the House of Blues.

I LOVE Tip's. You know, my first concert at Tipitina's was Richard, too. That was in 1990. I'd seen shows at the Saenger and the Superdome before then but never Tip's. It's such a great venue.

I'll console myself in the selfish smugness of knowing Belew isn't playing the American tour dates. So there, phbbbbt. :mad:

We are stoked! It is a bummer that Belew won’t be there but it’s safe to say that the combo of tour finale/New Orleans will likely produce a few very cool sit-ins.

First Tipitinas gig for me...exciting!

Dude, it's like seeing them in a shoebox. You're going to have a hell of a show.

Hell, I'd pay just to hear Mike Garson play.
 
Surprisingly nothing in the pipeline yet. I passed on a few shows nearby in the last few months, mainly due to them being a weekday or having to go by myself. Hoping to get to at least one or two decent shows in 2018, looking at you Tame Impala and Mac Demarco.
 
Just got in on the pre-sale on Dead and Co in July. The 2018 tour dates are up.

Gonna fly my son and his gf down for the show.

Ok, now I am leaning more toward Missoula. Smaller stadium, shorter drive, and the timing works out better. We will have just been in Seattle a couple weeks before the Seattle shows so it would be hard on work to go make that drive again.

In my continuing “shows no one cares about thread”. I saw Rebelution last night.

Great show. They added a second guitarist that was just on fire all night. It was like throwing EVH into a reggae band. He played a Tele bodied dual humbucking Anderson all night. The first time I’ve seen anyone play an Anderson in person.

I’m looking forward to Ballyhoo! In April, The Green also in April with Fortunate Youth, and The Dirty Heads with Iration for my birthday I’m May.
