To be honest it looked pretty much like the West. I did notice a few houses and one mansion that were in a terrible state of repair though that could be ok if someone restored them. You wouldnt see this in W. Germany so much. Its been quite a few years now but its pretty impressive whats been done there to bring the place up to western standards. Ive helped pay for it too. East German fuckers.
My wife, and most of her family still refer to them as 'ossis'. Theyre resented quite a bit id say.

Just did a lunch trip to Lidl (can you tell I am skint?). They recently started a fresh bakers, so freshly baked rolls for £0.29. Can't go wrong there. Also had German Bockwurst....mmmm healthy lunch

My wife loves Lidl, Aldi and all the other cheap places. I cant say i mind at all as the food from there tastes just the same as the more expensive varieties.

I wouldn't buy fresh meat and veg there, but all other stuff is good quality food. And they have lots of continental stuff from home. I found out today they now stock Bavaria, which is a REFRESHING LAGER BEER from the area I grew up in

I live in country town and we have two big supermarkets, a Sainsburys and an Asda. We also have a Lidl as the next biggest food store but it's not huge.
Based on our local stores I'd take fresh meat and veg from Lidl over the sh*te in Asda any day of the week. 50/50 between Lidl and Sainsburys on veg, with Sainsburys having the edge on meat.
