yes, and Florida is a shining star in the conservative movement.
Well, it's a red state for sure.
I could have made my point without sounding so harsh. My bad, H.

Right, to "squarely blame" Obama for this whole thing is incredibly partisan....
I thought Florida was full of old New Yorkers? ....

Florida Governor Charlie Crist, a Republican, has become quite the outspoken supporter of Obama. course, he was born in Pennsylvania and raised in Florida. so he's obviously a northern liberal sympathizer.

We got 'em from everywhere. With less retirees moving here, the ones who did passing on and more children born here over the last couple of decades things have changed a lot.
It's kind of like a "normal" state now.![]()
Only if abnormal is the new normal.
I am not seeing a significant slowing of retirees moving here either. I am seeing more natives moving out - or at least if they can sell their house.
Things have indeed changed a lot. I am a native and am certainly the minority in this part of the state.
Perhaps you've gotten to the point in much fewer words than the rest of us![]()
And I think it can be shortened further to one word. GREED.
Housing market, stock market, whatever market you want to talk about, they were all artificially inflated due to greed.

I'm just not a liberal. wave0
Bush's hairbrained bailout was a stupid idea, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to what this ass hat is doing.
You're right, but the market has always moved in a sine wave pattern overall. There have been shit loads of housing bubbles in our history. The market is independent and reliable. It always corrects itself if left alone.
The monkey wrenches here are two fold; government regulation forcing banks to lend to unfit borrowers and this new wave of interference in the form of Federal takeovers.
Im not trying to be an ass, but what is the philosophy of a conservative democrat? Arent democrats naturally more socialistic in their view of the responsibilities of government?

actually, it was a combination of regulation and de-regulation that got things going. again, a bi-partisan effort.
the market is only one economic indicator. and the Dow is compiled of a very small number of companies. reorganize the Dow (which happens to underperforming companies regularly) and a much different picture can be painted. this is why we have indexes like the S&P 500. it shows a broader range of the overall market.
i don't agree at all with the Bush bailout, and only slightly with the Obama one. And the parts that I do agree with are the earmarks for science, education, and public works. continuing to meddle with the banks, by propping them up for the short term, will not end well. it is only a stopgap to nationalization, which could actually be the best solution. but better to get there quicker than have a $1 trillion stopgap that doesn't even delay the process for a short time.
We actually agree on most of this. I contend that when given the opportunity to get busy repairing things, Obama just kicked the cart over the cliff.
if Obama has anything to do with it, its that his election catalyzed the idea that deregulation was over. that's it.

Im sure some areas see a difference more than others.
I'm in the Fort Myers/Cape Coral/Naples area. It's like night and day compared to 20 years ago. Young people have taken over. Big time. What part are you located in?

I would have never guessed.... seriously, you come off like a VERY far right winger.
