Citigroup stock trades below 1 dollar per share.

Not so young man. My convictions span both sides of the aisle.

I just believe in a few simple things that yourself and some others have capitalized on to demonize me; Cocks were made for vaginas, individual and property rights, Political correctness as a facade, protecting our borders and individual and family morals.

Other than that, I have plenty of "liberal" beliefs. I think for myself r0g3r, through what I've learned as right and wrong.

Its funny. This is almost word for word how i would describe myself, yet came from a republican background. hahaha.

I guess the bottom line is, the labels dont matter as much as common sense does.

Yes, I agree, the penis and vagina evolved for each other. However, if someone wants to stick it somewhere else, what business is it of mine? Alexander the great was a bisexual. We haven't stopped it since ancient times, and we're still here..... obviously what other people do in their bedrooms doesn't change anything in the world at large whatsoever, so why is it a political issue? I don't get it. Why have something against someone else for what they do in private? Frankly I don't care as long as they aren't molesting children.

If you stand for individual rights, you must have been appalled and shocked at the things like the PATRIOT act that the Bush administration used 9/11 to shove on us.

I actually have some conservative leanings myself. I'm against bigger government....though the Bush Administration enlarged the government while no one complained, creating whole new agencies like the dept of Homeland Security. Also, I'm against higher taxes in almost all cases. These are things the Republicans supposedly stand for, but in order to get these by voting republican I have to have them packaged with creationism in schools (as our own governor bobby jindall just made possible in louisiana), ideological law making in general, serious blows to science, homophobia, apathy for the environment, outright denial of our impact on the environment, etc. etc. etc.

It's too much to bear. Obama has been a dream for scientific funding already within a month and a half. The scientific community is overwhelmed with happiness after 8 years of Bush's war on science. Today I read he reversed Bush's ideological ban on stem cell research. For me this is worth all the negatives even the stimulus package. I still have hope for our pres to do right by us in the long run too, unlike some people (Rush Limbaugh) I don't wish for him (and with him our country) to fail.

I still haven't heard D-man tell us about any of his liberal beliefs.......you keep saying you have them but every position you've stated here is conservative or right wing. I don't know what gay people have to do with conservative government, but homophobia is tied up with the conservative movement currently because of their alignment with the Religious right....

Well, I am not a homophobe. I believe two guys should have every right to SIIEOP if that's what they wanna do. I like to stick it in my girl's pooper from time to time, but I'll freely admit it's an unnatural act. It feels fucking awesome and that's why I do it. You see, I admit it's twisted. That's the big difference. wave0 I have good personal friends who are gay and the forementioned philosophy flies with them. That's good enough for me.

I am pro choice, advocate the legalization of Marijuana, I support reasonable efforts to look after those who have fallen on hard times with programs such as Welfare, Medicaid, and unemployment(as long as the recipients do not abuse the system, which is rampant today), and I stand for some degree of big corporate regulation.

I've said what I have to say about the "gay" thing. I take the respectful and tolerant approach, though it's not my thing. That's the best anyone's ever gonna get from me. Live and let live, ya know?

I don't see conservatism "aligned with the religious right". I would say it's more aligned with common sense and family values than the blues. One can hold good values without being religious. I'm one of them. :thu:

I have to say that I appreciate that we can have this conversation and keep it civil. This would have become an epic shitstorm in other places and I really appreciate you guys being cool...

You're good, you!

You can count on me Mark. I wouldn't have been on the staff for years at HC if I were that kind of guy. My problem was with a small handful of cretin who made a daily effort to ride me like a mule. But I think you know this already.

This forum is more mature than that, as are you and I (and r0g3r).

I appreciate everyone's efforts...at first I was apprehensive when everyone started piing over but I feel better now that we've had a few months of good times....Werner is currently looking for you on HC....

Actually, a little to be honest. And also everyone from GJ who has had some kind of negative "relationship" with another forumite. I've never really known you outside of the pressure cooker that is GJ and this forum got kickstarted by a bunch of GJ'ers who had gotten burnt out on the drama over there during the elections.

The day you and Bucky signed up I was a little afraid that everyone's historical issues were going to resurface over here...once everyone saw that things were cool and we could all "agree to disagree" its been great and I'm actually very happy.

So, yeah...I'm very appreciative of everyone being cool. :)

I think he was referring to the werner part. :embarrassed:

Well, I was referring more to the Werner part.

Bucky is a great guy and of course I'd like to think I am too. Much of the drama came from a small, well defined group.

Anyways, screw all that. We're not the droids you8're looking for! LOL

That, too :embarrassed:

Actually, I am being honest here, no bullshit. I'm very happy that things have been cool here.....with all of the folks here from HC and LR I had the (now proven wrong) impression that at some point people were going to have problems and we haven't.

BTW....I think we need Hamer pictures in the "Guitar" forum:poke:

I'm no defender of Bush, but I'm sure you probably know Roger, he funded more stem cell research than ever before, the issue was whether the stem cells they used came from abortions or not. And, I imagine you also know that for the last couple of years, they have been able to create stem cells from other types of cells, so this is now a political issue and not a scientific one. Not trying to be argumentative, and I admit you know more than I do about this stuff, that's why I'm sure you are aware of this.

Have a good one!

The only one I would have guessed was the MJ one, but good on you for being "pro choice," though I don't like the term too much (pro life is a much worse choice of words I think), I fall into that category as well, with some reservations concerning when exactly the cutoff point for such procedures should be. I'm a fan of it being fairly early or not at all. Give them the choice, but put a time limit on it, since there's a time limit on the embryo becoming a human being.

BTW I only mentioned the homophobia thing because you did. Wasn't calling you a homophobe so much as commenting on how that position is tied up with the right wing movement (being against gay marriage etc.).

Actually Bush limited all embryonic stem cell research to 16 existing lines of cells, which dramatically limited research here in the U.S. There is no other method of obtaining embryonic stem cells other than from embryos.

Bush's decree was strictly political and ideological, as there is absolutely no scientific reason to hinder research on cells less than 5 days old. After 5 days, the cells differentiate, and are no longer stem cells, so you see how Bush either for political expediency or because of his own religious convictions severely hampered research on undifferentiated blobs of cells.

Bush doesn't understand the science behind this at all, he's an ideologue to the core. Where you get the idea that he funded more research on ANYTHING than ever before I'd like to know.

The same group who had Rush Limbaugh come out and speak for hours at their big convention recently and cheered his EVERY word, and I mean his EVERY word, as he misconstrued our constitution and declaration of independence and generally made an ass of himself?

I think they are certainly aligned with the Religious right. Bush is religious and admittedly allowed his religion to affect his policies, not just on stem cells but on foreign policy etc.

My own state's governor has just passed a law to allow creationism to be taught in our public schools. He's a Republican, religious right, and recently highly touted as a possible next candidate for the GOP for president and as one of the current leaders of the GOP.

Bush Sr. said if it were up to him atheists (like me) wouldn't even be citizens in this country. Too bad for all the atheists who laid down their lives in the many wars this country has fought, including the ones brought about by him and his son.

The GOP has become highly right wing, embracing it's most vitriolic and radical talking heads as it's defacto leaders. Did you see how Michael Steele, Charmian of the Republican National Comittee laid down before Rush this past week?
