Citigroup stock trades below 1 dollar per share.

Right, to "squarely blame" Obama for this whole thing is incredibly partisan....

Partisan? I'm a Democrat, foo. secret0

I'm just not a liberal. wave0

Bush's hairbrained bailout was a stupid idea, but it's a drop in the bucket compared to what this ass hat is doing.

I thought Florida was full of old New Yorkers? ....

We got 'em from everywhere. With less retirees moving here, the ones who did passing on and more children born here over the last couple of decades things have changed a lot.

It's kind of like a "normal" state now. :embarrassed:

Only if abnormal is the new normal.

I am not seeing a significant slowing of retirees moving here either. I am seeing more natives moving out - or at least if they can sell their house.

Things have indeed changed a lot. I am a native and am certainly the minority in this part of the state.

Im sure some areas see a difference more than others.

I'm in the Fort Myers/Cape Coral/Naples area. It's like night and day compared to 20 years ago. Young people have taken over. Big time. What part are you located in?

Perhaps you've gotten to the point in much fewer words than the rest of us :)

And I think it can be shortened further to one word. GREED.

Housing market, stock market, whatever market you want to talk about, they were all artificially inflated due to greed.

You're right, but the market has always moved in a sine wave pattern overall. There have been shit loads of housing bubbles in our history. The market is independent and reliable. It always corrects itself if left alone.

The monkey wrenches here are two fold; government regulation forcing banks to lend to unfit borrowers and this new wave of interference in the form of Federal takeovers.

Im not trying to be an ass, but what is the philosophy of a conservative democrat? Arent democrats naturally more socialistic in their view of the responsibilities of government?

actually, it was a combination of regulation and de-regulation that got things going. again, a bi-partisan effort.

the market is only one economic indicator. and the Dow is compiled of a very small number of companies. reorganize the Dow (which happens to underperforming companies regularly) and a much different picture can be painted. this is why we have indexes like the S&P 500. it shows a broader range of the overall market.

i don't agree at all with the Bush bailout, and only slightly with the Obama one. And the parts that I do agree with are the earmarks for science, education, and public works. continuing to meddle with the banks, by propping them up for the short term, will not end well. it is only a stopgap to nationalization, which could actually be the best solution. but better to get there quicker than have a $1 trillion stopgap that doesn't even delay the process for a short time.

Party philosophies have changed dramatically over the years. Some say they're perfectly reversed.

Early Democratic movements yielded good things (at the time) like labor unions (which aren't so good any more), infrastructure development and education opportunities for the impoverished. This party today is a parody of itself.

In a way, Howie's right. My entire family were Southern Democrats and admittedly, I inherited the affiliation. But like I said, I'm not aligned with the liberal views of today's party.

We actually agree on most of this. I contend that when given the opportunity to get busy repairing things, Obama just kicked the cart over the cliff.

I am in Wellington, it is western Palm Beach County. I have definitely seen the difference on your side. They used to say people retired to WPB and their parents retired to Ft. Myers.

Actually, the biggest changes over here have been huge imigrant numbers. Plus the hurricanes probably did slow down some of the retirement caravan.

I would have never guessed.... seriously, you come off like a VERY far right winger.

Not so young man. My convictions span both sides of the aisle.

I just believe in a few simple things that yourself and some others have capitalized on to demonize me; Cocks were made for vaginas, individual and property rights, Political correctness as a facade, protecting our borders and individual and family morals.

Other than that, I have plenty of "liberal" beliefs. I think for myself r0g3r, through what I've learned as right and wrong.
