What was the best day of your life? (Not counting the gimmes)

Besides the Gimme's, it's really hard to pick one. Most of them are music related, either due to notable gigs I've played or been to see. Best non music related one I can remember was a track experience day driving a couple of Lamborghini. That whole weekend was excellent to be honest.

Excluding the gimmies? There have been some very good gimmies, but okay.

I'd say Sunday, September 2, 1984, at Zeppelin Field in Nürnberg, W. Germany for the Monsters of Rock festival. I was 19 and attending with like 9 guys from my Army company. We stayed hammered and, along with about 60,000+ others, we were treated to the following lineup:
  • Mötley Crüe (opening act)
  • Accept
  • Dio
  • Gary Moore
  • Ozzy Osbourne
  • Van Halen (David Lee Roth's last show with VH until 2007)
  • AC/DC (closing act)
Setlists

Still, by far, the most ass-kicking single musical event I've ever been to.

Of course the next day, Monday, almost all of us were massively hungover and felt just awful for morning PT. Worth it, though.

Some videos:

Not sure if this a Gimme but for recent history March 27th 2015. I retired from being a working stiff. And while I was behind my schedule I was ahead of most people's retirement schedule :thu: And yes it's been everything I thought it would be. As to what I do all day...what ever the hell I want

Not sure recent and kind of more to the point was the day my ex-wife filed for divorce. While I was almost suicidally sad, it was the catalyst that eventually resulted in me moving 3000 miles from family and friends and as a result meeting my true soulmate who I've been with for almost 25 years (married for 21). So like Gary a bad day that actually turned out to be a good one (in the big scheme of things)

I don't know if it was the "best" necessarily but it always stands out in my memory...

During the summer of '83 I was on the road running sound for a gospel band...we were in Nuremberg Germany and went to the Nazi rally stadium which is still standing...for a WW2 obsessed person like me it was like a trip back through time...I stood on the exact spot from which Hitler would deliver his speeches to the 100,000 party members gathered there...it was a total mind fuck...

Aside from the gimmies, there really have been too many to list. At the time, each one seemed like my best day ever.

Like the look on my daughter's face when my son-in-law returned from his first Marine Corps deployment. The day my son graduated from the Marine Corps Basic Training, and when he returned from his first deployment. The day I realized that my granddaughter thought I was the bestest G-pa ever. The day I realized that my grandson thought I was pretty awesome, too. The day my son-in-law knew that he had two fathers he could talk to now, and that we had mutual respect for one another. The day I earned my degree as a chiropractor, and the day I opened my office.

I suspect that there are plenty of best days ever still to come, and I will enjoy every one!

Hmm. I think I have had lots of great days. One that always comes to mind is my 7th birthday, when I received my sparkly blue Schwinn Sting Ray, and my Grandpa taught me to ride it that day. My first bike. I never had training wheels. It was a great day.

Not mine. Just an image I found online of a '69 with the seat I had.
I had that SAME damn bike!

Didn't we do a thread like this not too long ago? I'm not complaining, I'm just afraid of looking like a dork if my answers aren't consistent. :embarrassed:

I'm going to go with the day we saw a total solar eclipse in 2010, from the deck of a small but luxurious cruise ship in the pacific ocean. After the morning eclipse (which was a religious experience) there was fantastic food, booze, and later a nice massage.
