What was the best day of your life? (Not counting the gimmes)

I'd have to go with a similar story as dodgechargerguy. In short, I'm not supposed to be here, in this career, in this business. I'm supposed to be home, still living with mom, or in an assisted living situation. I was never supposed to be able to make it on my own, take care of myself, get married, have kids, send them to college, own a home. I wasn't given up on, but I had to fight my way into what most take for granted; a life of normalcy. And it was my fight and only mine, to win, or give up and give in.

When I started working here, my life changed, big time, which changed the lives of everyone near and dear to me.

Probably the second day of snowboarding. Never felt more alive, relaxed and excited at the same time. I'm glad to say that feeling never really wore off.

Excluding the gimmies? There have been some very good gimmies, but okay.

I'd say Sunday, September 2, 1984, at Zeppelin Field in Nürnberg, W. Germany for the Monsters of Rock festival. I was 19 and attending with like 9 guys from my Army company. We stayed hammered and, along with about 60,000+ others, we were treated to the following lineup:
  • Mötley Crüe (opening act)
  • Accept
  • Dio
  • Gary Moore
  • Ozzy Osbourne
  • Van Halen (David Lee Roth's last show with VH until 2007)
  • AC/DC (closing act)
Setlists

Still, by far, the most ass-kicking single musical event I've ever been to.

Of course the next day, Monday, almost all of us were massively hungover and felt just awful for morning PT. Worth it, though.

DUDE!!! I was (almost) there! Was stationed in Wurzburg at the time. Some of my buds went, but I didn't for some reason or another...:(

Anyway, :thu:

Well, of COURSE besides the birth of my daughter, and my Jamaica wedding to the second (and current and final) Mrs. CBH, hard to really pin down. Was it my first concert that I attended that turned out to be the first date with my first girlfriend? Could be...

I'd have to say recently was the day that my wife and I landed in Denver nearly 3 years ( :( ) ago for the first time, and spent the weekend. Had a wonderful, laid back time. Need to do it again very, very soon.

Best day of entertainment was 7/23/77 Led Zeppelin at Day on the green with about 70,000 close friends.

Best professional day was 4/28/91 when I had a speaking part at T-2:34 during countdown to the launch of Discovery shuttle mission STS-39. Growing up watching live Apollo launches on tv, I never dreamed that I would one day take part. After my role was completed, I walked up to the roof of building AO at Cape Canaveral AFB and watched the early morning launch from ~6 miles away. Incredible.

Best personal day (besides the gimme's) was my last birthday, when my oldest son wrote me a card telling me how much he appreciated all the things I have done for him over the years and how much I sacrificed for his benefit. After seeing how many of his friends parents treated them, he wanted to let me know he finally understood.

had some really good days when I lived in socal. fresh out of college, living about 90 yards from the ocean, huge block parties, super hot girls.

also had some really good days on our honeymoon in costa rica. tons of sex, beaches, good food.

at work the best day ever was when I broke an all time company record for most closings in a month

obviously wedding day and the day my son were born were better than the above but I am not counting those.
