Educate me: Who in TF is Tompall Glaser?

Not really anyone. The outlaw country movement was pretty much his only modest success. Never wrote a hit on his own but he did have a recording studio in Nashville where Willie and Waylon recorded...probably for free on the condition he was included on the record. Just talking out my ass though.

The new Wilco had me mesmerized for the last few minutes. It is not ear candy and it takes some time & attention to appreciate, but it’s worth it.

I’m currently listening to whatever the sound guy is playing getting ready for the Wilco show. Right now it’s Yo La Tengo.

Enjoy! I’ve read a lot of positive reports from this tour. Even folks who hate the new record like the live versions of the tunes.

I’m seeing them here week from Friday.

@mongooz Squier made a decent fretless JB a while back; maybe they still do? If you're willing to put in a little effort setting them up, a lot of Squiers can be very satisfying instruments.

they are still making a Squire J fretless, at around $350, new. it's on my list, and everything i've read or seen on youtube about these Squire J (or P) basses is that they maybe should say Fender instead of Squire on the headstock, they're that good.
