Some of the stories of Ira Louvin seem almost ludicrously fuckheadish. Charlie seems to have been a real long-suffering guy, on top of all his musical greatness.

I can't remember where I read it (I think it was some country star's autobiography, Waylon Jennings maybe?) but they were recalling standing outside a Louvin Brothers concert in the late fifties. The Louvins were walking in and some family stopped Ira to say (paraphrased from memory) "Mr Louvin, we are huge fans, we really hope you play [some song] tonight!'

Ira immediately answered 'You can go fuck yourself! I'll play what I wanna play!'
 

Started listening to this because I read an article this morning about Quentin Tarantino's favorite soundtracks. This wasn't one of them, but I've always liked it so I'm listening to this instead of the ones QT recommended. Nobody tells me what to do!
