What’s your favourite pen?

The ones where the girl's clothes come off.

Back in school I preferred a Schaffer cartridge Fountain pen. But I havnt seen one in 40 years.
I like a fine point Sharpie these days.

I'm left-handed, so fuck you and your disgusting fountain pens!

I write left, but I learned to hold the pen straight and push it, rather than do the upside down drag it technique. In elementary and jr high I had several teachers with a penmanship fetish. I found my script was better with a fountain pen. I liked the drag of it, it slows you down. A ballpoint is too smooth and you tend to go too fast making for sloppy penmanship. Of course in college my handwriting went to shit No matter what I used, taking notes at a rapid pace.

Pentel RSVP, fine point. It is a great ballpoint pen, with a smooth, neat, delicate line that's as good for drawing as it is for writing. And they last for-freaking-ever. I've had one in particular for almost 10 years and it's still going; the barrel of the pen is so battered and gnawed that it basically looks like SRV's #1 Strat, but it still writes perfectly.

I’m ambidextrous, I guess, but I grew up writing left-handed. Have adapted to writing with my right hand since my stroke; pretty much the only thing that has changed in terms of motor function. Brains are weird, man.

Anyway. You surely realize that they make fountain pens specifically designed for left-handed people, as well as some universals?

If I drag my hand across the page as I write it doesn't matter whether the pen spitting watery ink onto the page is dexterous, sinistrous, or universal - the result will not be pretty...

Well, if you have any interest whatsoever and have $10-20 to blow, then you should try the Pelekin Twist. Ergonomic, cool-looking, and will make you subconsciously develop decent technique.

Well you could have had the Victorian first grade teacher that my older brother and I had. He was left handed...was. She wacked his left hand everytime he tried to use it and only let him use his right hand. So he is completely left handed but writes..right. By the time my younger brother hit first grade she was still teaching but had abandoned (been forced to ???) the practice. So he's left handed. As for me I am as right handed as possible

As far as pens I use free ones. But these days I rarely use one. Mainly for making a list of what to buy at HD so a fancy pen is not a requirement

Yeah - I rarely write anything other than a quick to-do list these days. Anyway - fountain pens are for dilettantes, real men use these:

I like the promotional one I got off the Marco tool guy a couple weeks ago. So far it hasn’t.t come apart like some of those bic or cheap knock offs of bic has....also there is no stupid rubber grip thing on it. It’s just an old school click type one with a clip so you can carry it in your pocket if you want without worrying about it falling out. It s also black in shell color and has black ink.

it ran out of ink today. I only used it a few times. perhaps it was the heat since I had a piece of paper against a car window which i was writing on and it was like 110 outside.

I can't get through a 6 word sentence without my hand cramping so I avoid writing where possible. I like gel pens though.
My grip is not standard but my 7th grade English teacher held her pen the same way so I felt vindicated.
I rest the pen on my ring finger first knuckle.

Since I predominantly write with my left hand (I'm ambidextrous, but my handwriting with my right hand is worse than my horrible handwriting with my left :embarrassed: ) I save the well tip pens for when I'm doing artwork (plus ink splatters, brushes, and those teeny tiny roller wheels are so much fun when inking a piece  ) so for my day to day I always use....

Pilot G2 Gel pen. Most places only carry the 0.7mm which can still smear because of the amount of ink on the page... the ultra fine 0.38 has been known to scratch a few pages because it's too sharp.

Like goldy-locks, the 0.5mm tip dries about as fast as I can write, is easy to grip, but doesn't leave black smears all of the page (and the side of my palm) like 99% of other pens do.
