WTF: The Third Installement Of The Thread About Nothing

I'm all done with the Ampeg remodel. Except, it still has the speakers I hate in it. Was rainy yesterday, hope for some sun, so I can take pics.

Wag - I have the 2 x 12 in black tolex. It is super clean. One small scratch in the tolex. That is the only mark on it. Not mine - but looks like this...

I really like the black tolex ones, those look sharp. I've yet to run across one for some reason in my amp rescues though. This is my second classic 50 actually, I had the head/4x10 cab version. I should have kept that one, sounded absolutely killer. Here's the one I've got now:

Wag - some miles on that one. I got this one - like I get quite a bit of stuff - thru GC Online Used. I had been watching prices and saw this one in Chicago about $50 less than I had been seeing. Liked the black tolex - really a dark grey - ordered it the day I saw it. It came with extra power tubes and they took the casters off - but wrapped everything - even the screws for the casters. I mean someone I will never meet did a perfect job of packing up everything. The guy was probably German. (I am mostly German/American BTW.) Ha!

That's awesome Woody - the peavey's are pretty heavy, and heavy duty amps. I would imagine it would need to be packed like that to be shipped safely.

Mine was disassembled, broken and in a dudes basement for several years. Literally ridden hard, put away wet, and broken! Looks bad, but sounds great! For the price I paid, I did well, but this amp was almost done.

The peavey classic series may be the most underrated amps out there.

This is the first day of a week off for me. Nothing big planned -- wife & I are going to drive up highway 1 through Marin and Sonoma to Mendocino and just hang out for a couple of days. I may FINALLY get around to installing a Fano AXA 12 speaker I've got hanging around into the Kustom Cab I use for my little Kustom Defender head.

Wag - mine came in a box about the size of a college room refrigerator. The Peaveys are tanks. I think the weight is around 55 lbs. It has to be a "god day" for me to get it upstairs. I was really looking for the head version - but price was really good so I got this one. A player I know that has been playing much longer than I have told me a number of Big Name groups used the Classic 50 on stage including Lynyrd Skynyrd.

I kind of did this inventory to see if I was to part with something which amp it would be. On paper it looks like the old blue stripe Studio Pro would be the one to part with. I brought that upstairs to refresh my memory on it. The clean was OK - but not as good as I remembered. It has trouble doing a good blues tone. Does hard rock pretty well, and can do some 90's metal. I don't know - maybe it's all in my head because I want to justify another purchase - but just not as great sounding as I remembered. It has no speak out - which is really nice to have. Gonna sleep on it I guess.

Sorry, PK :(

You know, it would be fucking nice if these places would at the very least contact you back to say whether you made the cut or no. I had applied for a job a few months ago with a company I worked on some projects with while at my last job. I thought they had held me in fairly high regard, since they requested me specifically. A month after I applied, I got a phone interview from a third-party "screener". That was in late May, and I've heard nothing since.

You don't think they'll catch up with you? I paid my business license for our general partnership the year we incorporated and 3 weeks after our LLC was formed I had the city hitting me up for another licensing fee.

Im sure it will, up to a point. If I go back to hobby status I think I can do it that way. Right now they are saying, "hey, remember that year way back when, when you had a business, well I think you owe us money, and based on our "average business" you have 2 employees and made a billion dollars, therefor you owe us X amount....." Im lookin gback at that 2nd year of biz and seeing there wasnt any money made.... they should be sending me an "im sorry we're holding you back from succeeding" letter.

i mean im caught up on taxes and what not... but it seems like even when im done, they still think i owe them more money.... or its just too much tape to go through. At this point Im thinking a 9-5'er will be easier, and just do the pickups as a hobby.

The 9-5er is always easier. There are times where I wish I could do something like that but I'm not really chock full of useful skills or experience for a job that would pay as much as I make now.

I hear ya. I'm sure I would make a similar amount at a regular job as I make now. The benefit and the main reason to start a biz is/ was amongst other things, to watch my father.

I think even at 5 years in, I'm just starting to figure out everything's far as what to expect when taxes come round. Probably just frustration of asking me for more money when my paper work shows that they should f&ck off
