The Official Jack's Place 2017 NHL Thread!

Now I am hoping for Ottawa.

The Oil vs Pens would be compelling though...as would Nashville vs Pens.

I don't think Ottawa can get away with their crazy heroics against Pittsburgh.

I am completely shocked the Caps lost to the Pens in the playoffs.

Countdown to explosion in Capitals organization..........in, 3, 2, 1,........wait for it.....wait for it......

it takes a while for the sound of the giant KA-BOOM to get to everyone.

And you may be right there, I don't recall if it was you involved in the conversation before but there are quite a few free agents on the team.

On last night's game: FAT PHIL did nothing again but I heard that he did a hat trick on bags of Doritos after the game.

Yeah, I think that was me.

The Caps organization HAS to blow it up. I mean,,,,,they just cannot win in the playoffs (well, against the Pens, anyway).
The have premier talent, good coaching, a great team, but just cannot get it done.

I can't point to one or two things, because they really have no holes in their game.

It's just time.

Last night Kessel leaned on his stick slightly and it snapped in half. This actually happened

Oh and good job choking Caps & EDM

They'll blow it up but not by necessarily by choice. Too many free agents that will want tons of cash. It won't matter, this is the Caps, always has been.

Yep, this exactly. I think Ove is still under contact, but most of the other guys will likely be gone.

Page 9 is proof that I only got 2 of the 4 series right.

The Pens got a lot of breaks and by that I am just referring to luck (not tompetty-esque 'refs on their side' BS) like Ovi's shot getting stopped by the shaft of Fleury's stick and the other odd bounce goals and so on. Bounces counts(es).

Ovechkin injured and getting multiple numbing shots during the playoffs - probably injury from the Kadri hit.

Found the Caps lack of obvious urgency incredibly sad. I hate the Penguins, but they sure played harder than the Crapitals.

Wondering how President's Trophy winners have fared in recent years. I know when the Bruins won it, they were out in the first round.

I think Chicago won it one year when they won the Cup and before that maybe Detroit and then Carolina?

Definitely odds against winning both.

It's tough to be the best team all year AND then play the grind that is the SCF and win. It's more about getting hot at the right time...which leads us too

CF predictions

I did ok on my WAG for the semis, 3 of 4 with Ottawa being the one I missed. I got the # of games all wrong though. Caps were doomed when they got down 3-1, Oilers were doomed when they lost game 5. I would have rather gotten those series wrong and had the Caps and Oilers move on but I think in both cases the better team won.

Pens over the Sens - in 6...a generous 6 it might be 5 IMO. I did not think that the Sens were the better team against the Rangers but got great and timely goaltending and even more timely goals. While I can see the goalie battle being in favour of the Sens, the Pens have too many offensive weapons for Ottawa to neutralize.

Nashville over the Ducks in 7. The Ducks were absolutely the more dominate team against the Oilers for large stretches. The game last night was close only thanks to Talbot. However the Ducks D and goal tending is a bit suspect while Nashville's is not. Nashville has been physical and fast. I think they can still beat the Ducks because of that. If however Getlaf's line can have the same level of domination it will be tough for Nashville to win so I go 7.
