He fell down and got cross-checked in the head. If he HADN'T fallen down, and Niskanen had checked him across the hips, would it have been a penalty at ALL? NO. No it wouldn't have.

The injury to Crosby was him flying into the Washington player - there isn't even a minor penalty there.


I also noted that there was no penalty on the Pens player who put his hand on the puck in the crease.

I'll go minor, but no major, CERTAINLY no game misconduct.
 
It just looked like the natural instinct to put your arms out if someone is falling into you at relatively high speed.

His stick was hip height, tops.
Sid fell down, for whatever reason.
Defenseman reacted and put his stick up. Totally legal.
If Sidney hadn't fallen face-first into the stick, there would have been no penalty at all.
That's not "intent to injure" in my book.
If Niskanen had raised his stick above his numbers, THAT'S intent to injure, and a game misconduct is warranted.

This is just Sidney Crosby falling (unfortunately) and getting hammered in a quick bang-bang play.

But because it IS Sidney Crosby, Niskanen gets a game misconduct, major penalty, etc....

Just play the fucking game the way it is meant to be played and let the chips fall where they may.
Fast, hard-hitting, instinctive hockey.

And Sid.....stay on your feet. Or at least protect yourself. Some of us aren't sure when you're diving or not.

Remember a week or so when Ovechkin got the knee knocked out from under him, and there were questions on when he came back?

Let's see if Crosby returns. If he does, he'll be hailed as a hero. Remember that one, @tompetty ?

Actually, here is a great shot in the video.

Crosby is embellishing being hit with a stick while trying to jam the puck in.
He embellishes, and while he pretty much pretends to go down like a sack of potatoes, he gets cross-checked in the head. 1:35 in the video onwards. He takes a sitck in the upper arm/shoulder pad, yanks his head back and twists his body like he's been killed, pretends (or not) to lose his balance trying to draw a penalty and gets fucking hammered.




You do that shit long enough, I guess it comes back and haunts you.

Cafeteria's open and lunch has been served.

What do you mean if the Caps lose? Of course they are going to lose. They are playing the Pens in the playoffs. I think that's a law or something.

Honestly, I think the series depends on if they can win tonight in OT.

IF they can pull it out. And IF Sid the Kid has killed himself embellishing, well, the Caps might just be able to build off of it.
But we shall see.
Got to win ONE first.
