The Biking Thread

I haven't been to Europe in 45 years, and it looks like I'll never return unless a lottery win is in the cards.
Yeah, expensive. Hopefully air rates come back down at some point. this was only my second time. Would like to go more often now, but it seems to me, to make the travel time and cost worth it, you need to plan a long time there. And it is not cheap. Though we did save some money by sharing that AirBnB for most of it. The hotels were expensive. So was car rental. All of it. So just going to appreciate the trip and that we got to do it. And work on paying off the part of it I put on a card.

I went in 2012 to Italy and so want to go back. The area that @sunvalleylaw went to as well as the Amalfi Coast are high on the list. Sadly unless I go alone we aren't going to go back until the dog and probably my in laws kick it. My wife isn't going to go otherwise

Matching tattoos anyone?

My longest ride ever. I need to find a new trail though. It’s a cross between boredom and danger with the homeless meth people and the organized crime and drug dealing on the creek bike path.

Come on up and run some of our bike-path meth camp gauntlets.

There's many where the camps spill out into the paths and it's rolling the dice w/ your life on multiple levels.

I would like to do this race (even though I don't race)

But since I wouldn't know enough people to fill out a team it won't ever happen. I think it would be the only way to ride down Mt Baker when it would be relatively safe. We've driven up there and the road isn't that great for riding up and down (not much of a shoulder, a fair bit of traffic in good weather and some of it going pretty fast)

I used to do that race (alpine ski leg) back in the mid 90’s for a couple or few years.

Rebecca's (Rusch) Private Idaho Gravel Race Weekend! Had old friends in town again to compete, and I intended to do the 56 miler, but covid and then wrist tendonitis (see brace in photo) had other plans, so I bettered my time on the short course instead. Now resting the wrist off the bike and bracing, icing, etc., as it is interfering with guitar. No Bueno. But the race was fun! Smiley there, lifting his bike, completed his goal of the 56, and along the way worked a long way toward his weight reduction and health improvement goal.

I've just bought an Orbed Orca off a pal who's knee is fucked. Probably not the best time of year to be doing it but he's chucking in a bunch of stuff with it including a trainer so I'll hopefully get into it over the winter in the garage and then get back on the roads when the weather picks up.

Looking at an Orbea Rise to share with my partner, Mollie. We both can fit mediums, and she can ride it when she goes out with me, and I can borrow it other times when I want a little assist on longer efforts. Will look at the Rise and similar
