Space X launching people today! Who's watching?

Two things can be true at the same time; A person can be morally terrible, yet make significant contributions in their field. Such is the case with Henry Ford (and arguably Musk). Ford revolutionized manufacturing with the assembly line...a practice that was adopted worldwide. At the same time, he was a terrible anti-semite and lauded by the Nazi party. The latter does not take away his contributions to the former.

Completely agree, though it is disappointing. I believe I said as much earlier, but it bears repeating.

Donald Trump never built anything. (and keep your fucking politics in the political forum) Elon Musk falls into the list of people who are credited for building America. There's a hell of difference. See, there are those who work in the industry. You can be a janitor and work in the industry and you'll be remembered the same as. Then there are people like Elon Musk. It's the same anywhere and everywhere.

Elon Musk
Andrew Carnegie
Thomas Edison
Henry Ford
Henry Clay Frick
J. P. Morgan
Junius Spencer Morgan
John D. Rockefeller
Charles M. Schwab
Thomas A. Scott
Nikola Tesla
Cornelius Vanderbilt
William Henry Vanderbilt
George Westinghouse
trump is a piece of shit life is politics...deal with it

Elon Musk

Musk hasn't invented anything or done anything to build America. He put huge piece of trash in space, his Tesla, with no scientific objective and adding to the waste revolving our planet right now. He interfered with a rescue of the boys caught in the underwater cave, and retaliated against the hero who saved the boys by accusing him of being a pedophile (with no basis in facts). Elon Musk is a dick.

Opinions such as this belong in the politics forum. Not in the main forum.

Think of this forum as someone's home. They have invited us into their home. They have asked us not to spit on the floors, but, as a gracious host, has created a place specifically for us to spit. Let's not abuse our host's graciousness.

Here's thing if I go by your analogy as "someones home" The home owner is Mark right? I know 100 percent as fact that Marlks views of discussed person are excalty the same as mine. In this case the home owner would have no problem and perhaps the people who take offense should head on back to their own homes...or , you know debate their opinion. no one is spitting anywhere.

Perhaps the owner's opinions are the same as yours, but the owner realizes that not all guests' share the same opinions. And so as to make everyone feel welcome to discuss guitar and music (the primary function of this place), there is a rule of no politics outside of the forum set aside for that purpose.

This isn't a request. Neither is it an invitation to debate.

Define Politics and I'm being serious here. Elon Musk and his capatalistic push of a private Space program within a Government agency is quite politicxal to me as it potentially gets the ball rolling towards a colonization of space right? Do you think the poors, the blacks, the queers will be on board or will it be the blond hairs with blue eyes and good financial portfolios....see where this is all going?

DinoMike could've not even addressed my post but he chose to and he chose to use aggressive response as in "take it to the fucking political forum". That required a response from me and now were are here.
I said my view here so i will respectfully to you stop so as not to escalate things. But please keep in mind that Political encompases many many aspects and it is not a clear definition set by exact parameters, especially here let alone "in person life". It's been clear that this is off topic forum and "the political forum" has a thread about a nation health issue (the covid 19) ....where is the distinction of what is and what isn't political?
I really don't think a one sentence opinion of a celebrity denotes a definition of "political" I was merely stating an opinion on a public figures perception from my view...

Flat earthers don’t like Elon either. Strange bedfellows with which we sometimes find ourselves. There are some musicians I don’t care for, but it doesn’t stop me from loving their music.

The Tesla (with Starman inside) isn’t in the Earth’s orbit. It’ll be passing by Mars in October. I’d love to see how that paint job is holding up!

I’ve met Doug Hurley, one of the two astronauts. Nice guy.

...and how the battery is holding up and if the stereo is still playing.

Very reasonable, especially since it's clearly stated in the forum guidelines. Politicizing everything is extremely tiresome, IMO, but it seems to be a hobby for a lot of folks these days.

Well, for the sake of keeping the living room clean, I'd rather all spitting be done in the designated areas.

Not to belabor the point, but I hope you’re not including positive posts about anything LGBT as spitting. Because those posts, without any political agenda, have also been threatened to be banished to the political thread.

And I also thought that you had agreed that the mods should have just deleted political posts out of the Covid thread so that the useful public information being provided would be accessible by everyone on the forum. That thread was moved instead of deleting one or two offending messages.

Anyone with over 100 posts automatically has access to the politics forum, so who is being excluded? Nobody as far as I can tell.

Public service information - easy to find would be a priority. How does it make any sense to you that it’s a political subject? One person could make a political post in every thread in every forum - should they all go to the political forum?

In case you haven't been paying attention, Covid-19 and PPE use has become extremely politicized. Us libs are drinking the covid koolaid, and the rest of 'Murica are exercising their FREEBURTY because Trump says it's all a Dem hoax and if he isn't wearing a mask they aint gonna either.

All one would have to do is look in the political forum, and the first 3 threads are always Coronavirus related. Since I look in there every day, they are pretty damn easy to find.

Are you worried that there is someone out there who has no idea what Covid-19 is, and their first thought is.." I need to read up on this. Better fire up the computer and scan the on line guitar forums and get the straight dope!"

Different ages but my son is two years into engineering school. Changed to aeronautical last semester. He will co-op at Boeing next year if my friend doesn’t retire before then.

My recommendation for anyone interested in this business is to major in mechanical engineering, and really dig into Solidworks. Minor in something aeronautics related to put a fine point on it. Such as Guidance and control systems, Avionics, propulsion, orbital dynamics, structural analysis, etc...

All the smart people here are ME's, no matter what they actually do. If they are software types, Python 3 is the main programming language. EE's are the exception. never let them use tools.

Back to the OP. The launch is scheduled for Saturday at 3:22 central time.
It looks like the weather may not cooperate again.
