Riding mowers...will you admit to having one?

So like a giant Roomba?
Exactly. Many of my customers have combines that use gps to guide the equipment. They still have to be inside the machine but it does everything itself.

My parents neighbor has and early prototype. He has a self propelled mower that he uses in an interesting way. He tapes the safety bar closed, ties one end of a rope to the mower, he ties the other end to a stake he drives into the yard. He then sits in a chair and watches it mow crop circles into the yard. The rope wraps around the pole and mows a smaller and small radius until it hits the pole. He repeats this until he mows all 4 acres. I wish I had a picture.

I have a reel mower and a WorxGT trimmer (the old 18 volt one). I have a set of those shears which look like a big pair of scissors too.

I also would admit it if I had one. But my yard is only 1/3 of an acre so too small for one though there are days....mine isn't self propelled but fortunately there isn't too much elevation to deal with. In about 10 years I foresee getting a self propelled. In 20 years if I'm still around I'll probably hire someone

My yard is not that big so I bought a 15" push mower (non-motorized) last summer and it works great for the most part. There are some really tall bit of crabgrass it cannot handle, but otherwise I love it. Less overhead than a power mower.

What is very funny is that my neighbor on the other side of the duplex has a riding mower to mow his lawn. His front grass is maybe 18' by 12' and the rear lawn maybe 12' by 12'. I could hand mow his back lawn in 5 minutes with my hand mower, He uses a riding mower.

I'm on an acre. Yes I have a riding mower (42" cut) and it still takes 1.5-2 hrs to do the yard. Simple math says that would at least double if I was just using a standard 21" cut push mower. I already feel like I spend too much time on the yard. My yard tractor is 20 yrs old and when it dies, I think I'm just going to get a yard service instead of buying a replacement and get those hours of my life back.

I pay a landscaping company to take car of my lawn and plants. My work schedule makes doing it myself impossible. If I did it myself I would have a riding mower.
