Riding mowers...will you admit to having one?

My yard is also too small for a riding mower. I have a battery-operated electric mower. This year, my brother-in-laws and nephews have been doing the lawn since I had the heart attack.

WE moved across the street from our old house last summer. If I still lived in that house I would be buying one. The yard was huge. My neighbor there had one. His yard was the same size as mine, but he has a pool and a pool house taking up a good chunk of his back yard. I snagged his from time to time when I needed to get it done in a hurry. My new yard is tiny. I think it would be harder to mow with a riding mower.

I'd admit to it if I had one.

I'd have one, even with my small yard, if I had a place to store it.
It would have a snow plow/thrower attachment too.

I'm not sure what is wrong with a riding mower.

I have 7acres to mow, and there is no way I'm going top push it, it would take a week. I am waiting for the GPS controlled self driving mower similar to the new combines. If someone builds one they can take all of my money.

I'm surprised robotic lawn mowers aren't more widespread (I say that without knowing anything about how well they function or their cost, etcl just based on the popularity of robotic vacuums, etc).

I guess maybe the difference is the preparatory clean-up required - it's not such a big deal to make sure there aren't any dirty socks lying around that will challenge the roomba, but doing the same for a much larger and much more prone to random obstacles might be too much of a hassle..

So like a giant Roomba?

maybe if you put an autopilot system on yer tractor (from a small aircraft) which has a gps controlled system, you could mow the lawn once, setting all your way points (turns) and then next time just hit the "navigate to" button, and watch it mow by itself.

Actually, I plan on buying one of these tomorrow!

:)
