The FBI rejected a recent White House request to publicly knock down media reports about communications between Donald Trump's associates and Russians known to US intelligence during the 2016 presidential campaign, multiple US officials briefed on the matter tell CNN.

But a White House official said late Thursday that the request was only made after the FBI indicated to the White House it did not believe the reporting to be accurate.
White House officials had sought the help of the bureau and other agencies investigating the Russia matter to say that the reports were wrong and that there had been no contacts, the officials said. The reports of the contacts were first published by The New York Times and CNN on February 14.

The direct communications between the White House and the FBI were unusual because of decade-old restrictions on such contacts. Such a request from the White House is a violation of procedures that limit communications with the FBI on pending investigations. [snip]

The 4 min video is pretty damning.

High-level advisers close to then-presidential nominee Donald Trump were in constant communication during the campaign with Russians known to US intelligence, multiple current and former intelligence, law enforcement and administration officials tell CNN.

President-elect Trump and then-President Barack Obama were both briefed on details of the extensive communications between suspected Russian operatives and people associated with the Trump campaign and the Trump business, according to US officials familiar with the matter.

Both the frequency of the communications during early summer and the proximity to Trump of those involved "raised a red flag" with US intelligence and law enforcement, according to these officials. The communications were intercepted during routine intelligence collection targeting Russian officials and other Russian nationals known to US intelligence.

It’s a little more current then that. There’s a lot of subtext in that comment. Right now the GOP congress members are having trouble leaving their homes and offices without being surrounded by angry protestors and news cameras. Trump’s approval numbers are tanking. Ending gerrymandering is becoming a cause celebré, even within the GOP, and it’s creating new inter-party fissures. The courts aren’t afraid to push back. The White House has gone to war with the media. GOP senators are taking baby steps toward investigate the Russia scandal. Businesses want nothing to do with the GOP and the alt-right media is hemorrhaging advertisers. 2018 is already shaping up to be a bloodbath and it’s only February of 2017. The tea party has to use everything they’ve got to hold on or they might get wiped out faster than they came into power.

Oh, don't try to cheer me up...

I never once had to shovel heat or humidity off my driveway.

I'll make that trade off everytime. Fun in the snow with my family, warm lunch, nice fire in the evening...but feeling confined inside with air conditioning just to not sweat profusely...I hate that. I can't enjoy the outdoors if my shirt is soaked within a half hour just from walking...sometimes even just sitting.

Yeah. Imagine how shitty Florida is going to be as global temps continue to climb and all the old Republican folks down there deregulate businesses until their water is oil contaminated, seafood is overfished, and the air is thick with smog.

June 2016:
Caitlyn Jenner praised Donald Trump’s stands on women’s rights and LGBT equality in a new interview with Stat.
“Trump seems to be very much for women,” the former Olympian and reality TV star told Stat. “He seems very much behind the LGBT community because of what happened in North Carolina with the bathroom issue. He backed the LGBT community.”

This week:
Jenner went on to call out bullies (among whom she included Atty. Gen. Jeff Sessions) and President Trump himself, telling him to call her, "from one Republican to another."
"This is a disaster, and you can still fix it," Jenner said, reminding Trump he had made a promise to "protect the LGBTQ community."

#trumpregrets?

I suppose that Caitlyn never realized when she advocated her support for Trump, she was lending support to the entire Republican party ideology and how much of that runs contrary to her own interests....until now. It seems pretty clear that the administration intends to reverse everything that happened in the last 8 years as priority one. Bannon's discussion @ CPAC confirm much of the speculation that the administration is on a mission to reset the country on social issues, comprehensively. I get the impression she, and many others, still may not understand how deep the rabbit hole goes here.

My dad came down for work earlier in the week and pointed out that we're screwed as a country if we can't even agree on facts any more.

I get not liking information that doesn't jibe with your perspective, we've all dealt with it. But to put aside real evidence, incontrovertible data/information/proof in an effort to feel comfortable in your bubble...how the fuck can you live like that. Ignorance isn't bliss, it's a tool to support delusional behavior.

Asshats...

That's a whole lot of just can't math right there.
Just think about the logistical complications, security issues & costs for travel for a couple + their two kids vs the DJT family that's dispersed over multiple locations & has much different lifestyle requirements.

Edit: though really, the typical hyprocrisy of politics on display in that piece isn't lost on me

ThaNKS @Kerouac for the smile on Facebook this morning:
