“This would be another precursor to ultimately landing. And I think sometime within a second Trump term, you could think about putting a landing vehicle on the moon,” Walker said.

two things: we've already been there and done that. there's no point in doing it again. there is NOTHING to be gained. there's no trophies for a "repeat".

there is NOT GOING TO BE A SECOND TERM. it is quite likely there will not be a complete FIRST TERM.

That's the first thing I thought of when I read the article; wait, we're looking to revive the Apollo program? What year is this? I get that we want to work towards a manned mission to Mars but IDK how valuable pushing NASA to do another moon landing is towards achieving that and the whole thing seems like a reality show stunt.

It's been nearly 20 years, but Robert Zubrin wrote a book titled "The Case for Mars" about how manned Mars missions are much more important than moon missions, but the moon is easy, so we're more likely to go back instead. Frank Black wrote a song about the book called "Robert Onion".

At this point, it's been 45 years since we last went to the moon. It's probably a good idea to go back with new technology. Also, Trump doesn't care about making America greater, only as great as we once were. Not looking forward, just backward with rose colored glasses. The moon it is.

At this point, I just use FB to chat w/ my friends because my feed is still littered with blind partisan rhetoric.
I'm not sure how we'll ever move forward in compromise when you have such divisive opinions & disrespect for anyone who doesn't agree with our opinions. It also shows you how effective that press conference was in throwing meat to the lions.

At first I thought they just wanted to turn back the clock on the last 8 years and eradicate everything Pres. Obama did
Then the social agenda & energy policy was straight up 1980s Reagan era
Now it looks like they want to return science to the 1960s

Dictators have a history of preferring their sheep to be as uneducated as possible (just look at your average teanderthal). It makes the masses easier to trick and control.

I'm done with those people. There's no reasoning with people who are happy to exist in their own reality. I'm not cutting people out of my life because of it, but it has changed my opinion on some people I know, and not for the better. I'm happy to discuss politics with people who have differing views, but when they start dealing in fantasy I flip the "off" switch.
