There are Bernie supporters, and there are folks who supported Bernie 'cause it made 'em feel rebellious and cool - but they knew all along he wasn't really going get the nomination, so it was safe. These are the folks who are going to fall into line and pull the switch for HRC.

I'll give the fanatical Trump supporters a nod here for loyalty: I'll betcha a good chunk of them either won't be voting or won't be voting R if he doesn't get the nomination.

And if Trump does get the R nomination, it's going to be a fun election for sure. I have to say, it's been amusing watching the died-in-the-wool liberals get their panties bunched up over Trump.

well...c'mon.....everybody KNOWS she's part of the liberal corporate machine.....has been since watergate. yea.....the dems have a corporate machine just like the reps.
don't get me going about the clintons....seriously. i WILL go vince foster....et al.
unfortunately......she IS going to be the next president. it is what it is.
cruz and trump have not only alienated most of the electorate.....they've positively made us puke.
i am a registered republican....have been my whole life as have been my family.....since 1775. (don't school me on party names....don't)
and i'm voting for hillary....to stop them. i have confidence that the republican controlled congress will keep her from going too far over the edge.
perhaps we can come up with someone for 2020 that can unite this nation and we can get on a positive path, before we implode.

Yes. Though optimistic me was pulling for an upset for the underdog. But adjusting the conversation is also a win. I hope that it sticks and a lot of the new to politics younger people stick with it.

I won't dare school you on party names. I was raised in a very Republican family myself. My Dad ran for WA state congress (unsuccessfully) as a young man.
But back then, I thought "Republican" meant guys like this:

Give it a quick read. Pretty interesting guy. Even though he was a self-styled conservative, by today's standards, he was pretty moderate. He was the one that appointed my Dad to the bench.

oh.....absolutely. bernie brought a lot of things to the forefront......and it's a little crazy that the younger crowd has associated with him (being 80 or whatever).
the GOP is dying. they have done it to themselves by being a bunch of racist, bigoted, homophobic asses. i'm ashamed of the party. i will likely change my party affiliation, officially. i will be the first registered democrat in my families 250 year history.:facepalm:

I knew it wasn't directed at me. I wasn't thinking about the traditional names even.

I do find interesting the historical definitions of liberal and conservative, and how the GOP and Dem platforms have changed over the years, and how the parties and their positions relate to the changing definitions of liberal and conservative. I once considered myself a classical liberal, not far off from being a libertarian, now considered "conservative" or right wing. I was really into the whole John C. Locke thing for a long time, long ago. I still hold to some of those philosophies. But tempered quite a bit.

yes....the whole platform thing has changed a lot. for instance.....Teddy was considered a staunch republican (at the time) and yet he is very responsible for the national park system and setting aside land to never be developed. that FLIES in the face of the repub's now. same goes with his opposition to monopolies. he single handedly took on Rockafeller and won, for a time.....until Rockafeller assigned different parts of his oil corp to different family members under different company names.

but you are right. the things that the two parties have stood for has changed, almost diametrically opposite, over time.

The sad thing is that this info is all public record and the average person can access it with relative ease. Even if you don't own and computer or have your own access to the internet, public libraries have computers that anyone can use (at worst for limited times and only a couple of times a day) and many college/university libraries have visitor hours and allow onsite access to a greater wealth of resources than available at even the best public libraries.

People are too fucking busy in facebook, Pintrest, porn, memes, shitty "information" sites, etc. to put time into actually learning about the candidates. Further (and as I'm sure has been covered multiple times in the this thread already) most voters will throw away everything else a candidate says and more impoartntly does if they don't agree with them on one issue. Usually it's abortion or gun control, but healthcare became huge and there are often grumblings about education (since it's related to taxes).

There is one thing I love about Hillary. It doesn't make me enthusiastic about voting for her, but Kate McKinnon's Clinton impersonation is total fuck gold, or platinum (which ever one is more valuable). Seriously some of the best shit on TV and in comedy. Between whoever does the writing and her delivery, what's funnier than that right now? Seriously, what?

Yeah, Larry David does a great Bernie, but it's not as good as Kate's Hillary.

I agree. It is sad how little people put into learning about the candidates. When I lived in Florida, I worked for a school board. Florida is such a red state, most folks just vote republican no matter what. I found it really odd, that almost everyone I worked with, voted republican only because they historically don't put money into education as much as the democrats do and the county hadn't gotten raises in forever, so if they voted for the democrat they might have gotten one. Then after Scott was elected, they all started bitching about everything he was doing. I finally stood up and said that he is doing everything he said he was going to do while he was campaigning, if you had paid attention to his platform, you would have known that. Try educating yourselves on the candidates instead of just voting for the letter after their name.

From the interview, Boehner: "When it came to the Democrat primaries, Boehner asserted his belief that although Bernie Sanders has put up a significant fight, Hillary Clinton will win the nomination over Bernie Sanders. While stating that he disagreed with Sanders on all the issues, the former Speaker also called Sanders a nice guy and the most honest politician in the race."
