My CV tele rebuild thread.

Glad you got the 4-way. As far as the neck not coming on in the middle position, I believe you need a jumper wire to the middle lug from the neck lug on the switch. Just going from memory; a wiring diagram from your switch will probably help straighten it out.

My baja tele has a 4-way switch and I love it. I also like the out-of-phase push button on one of the knobs (s-1 switch). The out-of-phase is a strange tone, but useful on rare occasions.

More parts came in today:

Bridge looks good. How did it intonate?
I ran out of time tonight but it was actually kinda close out of the box. I need to get some tools from work and one of my strobe tuners tomorrow and I'll do it the rest of the way.

Spent a little more time with it. This was actually the first time I've ever tried to setup and intonate a 3 barrel tele bridge and it was a little frustrating. Also not in love the the action but I'll keep messing with it this week. I still need the control plate and I'll put the electrosocket in then too.

Is it bad that I'm already enjoying this tele more than my Suhr? Even with the cheaper components its just more my aesthetic when it comes to tele-style guitars.

I'm realizing that I enjoy my MIM Strats and my Epi SG more than my Heritage. I never thought I would say that.

I think sometimes you find a guitar that you bond with and price has little to do with what guitar that is. I have about $500 into my tele, which started out as a 50s Classic. It's had a bunch of different arrangements and I like the current one the best. It's a great backup to my PRS. Now if only I could mitigate the hum. :annoyed:

Some guitars are just good and sometimes those guitars are Squiers.

I really like the thinline squier I bought a year and half ago - it just plays great and sounds great. Sometimes you get a good one, and Squier seems to make 'em pretty darn consistently.

What do you think of the series position?
It seems cooler than I expected. I'm going to play it in a class tonight to get a better sense of how it works. I think it'll be useful on gigs though.

The guitar as a whole sounds good but it's a little bright. The new bridge seems to have given it a little better high end openness but possibly at the sacrifice of a bit of low end. The pickups are great. Dealing with the noise is a bit much though...I'm just not used to it anymore.
