Nothing too compelling, but I bought a new camera last week, a Sony Nex 6 mirrorless. I bought a Sony 35mm lens to go with it. This is an upgrade from a ten year old non lens changeable camera and a cellphone camera. I love the bokeh effect a nice 35mm creates!

I just stuck these on a wall at work today and snapped a picture for the colors.

Just messing around. It's a bit dusty, isn't it?

Ooo, I like the first headstock shot! Actually, that's great detail in all of them.

I've already made enough of an investment in my DSLR that I'll be sticking with it for a while, but I'm definitely interested in mirrorless and I'll be watching closely to see how it evolves. Congrats on the new purchase!

Thanks. Yeah, I'm really impressed with the detail this thing does. I'm also happy I decided to invest the $450 into the 35mm lens, because the kit lens sure as hell does NOT produce anything like that! (But I have seen some nice pictures taken with the kit lens.)

I decided on the mirrorless because of its size and I want to do some better photography while on vacations.

I also bought one of those $30 CCTV lenses people rave about.

Haven't played around with it a ton yet, I have too much with the 35mm.

Decided to wank around with the afforementioned $30 lens just to see what it'd look like with similar shots. Kinda fun with the manual controls. I like how the last one turned out, I was sitting on the ground pointing upwards towards a light. I have no idea what I'm doing.

I bought a new Canon EOS70D body last week. I'm trying to learn the new location of all the buttons and the menu system changes from my old Canon, but so far it is a massive improvement in shutter speed, focus speed, and low light performance from my old T1i. I'm really happy with the new camera. :)

I haven't really taken anything buy a kazillion test shots, but I will try to take some shots soon.

I just sent a roll of black and white into The Darkroom in California. https://thedarkroom.com (anyone have a favorite lab BTW?) The local place I used to use a few years ago no longer processes black and white. The Darkroom will send me back some super scans from which I can order prints if I like them. I will post if anything good turns out. I was shooting mostly action of my son's cross country running district championships. I shot ASA 400 TMax (I wanted Tri-X as I like the grain but they had none). I was using this old camera and that old 70-150 zoom. I closed the aperture down to between 8 and 16 as light allowed for depth of field and reasonable speed. Hopefully some of it turned out. We shall see.

Such is the old problem with film cameras and why I think they won't be anything but a curiosity. When I went on my big UW photography trip I shot ~42 rolls of film in 14 days. I probably kept 1/2 and some of those were not good but where of things that I only got 1 shot of so I kept. Now I have a closet full of 35mm slides that I never look at any more :(

BTW anyone interested in a good used 8008 with a fully functional housing?
