After 50 years of longing, I finally pulled the trigger and got a J45. Compared to the Epiphone Masterbuilt, there is no comparison.

The first thing that struck me is how light it feels. The action is perfect, no fret problems, beautiful finish, and the tone that I have been looking for. Carol was also impressed by the tone; she was not too thrilled with the Epi. The G chord really rings, and even a D chord has a nice deep tone. I am happy to have finally had the chance to get one of these. The only thing I found odd is that it does not have a strap button by the neck. I am taking it to a luthier to have one installed - I'm not messing with a guitar this expensive.

I am so glad that I had the chance to get this at last. :hippie:

Hearty congratulations! I am glad you were able to get it! The second pic won't load for me, but I am sure it is beautiful!

Sorry about the second pic. I replaced it in the original post, and repeat it here:

The cell phone pics are bad; this is a beauty and is Carol approved.

nice... so how does it compare to the luna's? are they all in cases now?
At this point I am down to three Lunas - the Trinity 6 and 12 strings and the Zia acoustic. Needless to say, the Gibson sounds and plays much better than the Lunas, though the three above are not going anywhere any time soon. I had been using the Zia for open tuning and the Epiphone for standard; I will probably now use the Epi for open tuning.

HNGD!!!!

I played one just like that a few years ago. It was beautiful sounding and beautiful to play. Sadly I cannot justify another acoustic and I could never replace my cheap Fender due to sentimental reasons. It plays well enough but not like the J-45. If it was stolen or lost I would give that or a Martin a long look
