Help! Save me!

Damn you, Guitar Center! I've been eyeballing these ES-339 Pro P90 models since they came out and I've resisted up to now. $339 for the red one. Argh!

Yeah, I mean, what could go wrong with an Epi semi-hollow?

In all seriousness, that's a cool feature set, and it looks like a lot of guitar for the cash.

I'm trying my best not to sell a child to buy one of these for $229!!!

I've played a bunch of them and they're actually really fucking sweet, even with the cheap Floyd on there.

If tbose are marked down to $229...well...

Yeah, I have no clue what to do because I sadly don't actually have $229...

I have an old OLP MM1 that I was thinking of dropping a Floyd on, but that requires work. The neck shape on these is nicer and I can always drop a Floyd Rose Special on it later without any mods.

womp womp womp...

BTW, sorry for hijacking, EG. LOL

Ah c'mon. You could build one yourself for maybe twice that, not counting labour. Show a little gumption!

(But don't show your gumption to me. Ewww!)

There's the rub. Most builds cost me in the neighborhood of $6-700. And a lot of labor.

Now I've made it through tropical storm Bill...

I'm going into GC to look at one...

Bitch, bitch, bitch!

I'm not bitching. That's a good price and the only reason I'm tempted.
GC actually had a few P90 guitars to compare. That was nice.
Gibson LP Special double cut
Epi Wildkat
Epi 339
Epi Casino
56 Gibson ES-125 with a single P90.

I saved the 339 for last and had Mrs G listening blind. She picked the 339 as sounding best just by listening.
The 56 was harsh and very shrill sounding for an old classic. Not a good example.
The Kat has those dark sounding overwound horrible P90s. Ick. And the Bigsby took it out of tune just looking at it.
The Casino was a Casino. Not bad but not as nice sounding as the 339.
The LP Special was ok but had no character. Very bland sounding. But it was in tune with the robo-tuners.
The 339 Pro pickups are nice. Low wind and smooth as butter. The neck pickup was full and the bridge pickup had good grind.
They didn't have the cherry model that's on sale here, though.
It was a really nice guitar. Gonna think about it a bit.
