Doc Martens are Waffle Stompers for grown ups.

In whole sizes. My wife and brothers both wore bigger sizes than I did. And if I put their docs on, they always fit snug width like mine, they were just longer.

You're not following. I wear a 9.5. If I buy a 10, it's the right width, but too long and they don't fit. If I buy a 9, they're the right length, but I can't get my Flintstone feet into them. And they don't stretch enough after a few weeks either. So no Docs for me. It's ok. I'll live.

I think this will be the fall/winter I finally break down and buy a pair of Fryes

You are going to wear them with a suit?

Don't
FYI, a suit and black belt and oxfords today. Cap toe Nordstrom. Had 'em for years.

Settled a hard family law custody case with some dark and semi-violent (at least verbally, and light scuffles in the history) overtones. Got (well, not gonna say it was me. Counseling helped) my client focused on his kid and moving forward, and removing himself from disputing with his ex. She has now stopped pushing buttons and filing police reports. It was hard work. Gonna show up in a suit and dress shoes today to get the deal signed.

I wear size 12.5, of the were the same with as a size 6 they would look rediculous.

I've never noticed a difference in half size widths. Going from a 7 to 8 or 8 to 9, maybe a little, 1/4" or so. Half size, not enough to even notice. With Docs, I don't think I've notice a width difference when wearing a full size up.

Showed up in the suit. Got the deal done. Took all morning to handle the details and get signatures from both parties. Mentally tired. Taking the rest of the afternoon off to get a bike ride in and guitar with @Mark Wein and @reverend1 . If I have any energy, I will practice a little before the lesson. Sometimes you have to suit up. Today would not have been the day for blazer, slacks and chelsea boots.

I always have a pair of these for work:

Might get a pair similar to that sometime. Right now, I have a couple pair of black oxfords. I put that Cat's paw rubber stuff on the leather soles. For Washington wet originally, now for melting snow out in the parking lot.
