Doc Martens are Waffle Stompers for grown ups.

Or sort of grown ups. I want some anyway. To where as winter work shoes I can get away with running over to court in.

You are going to wear them with a suit?

Don't
No. I almost never wear a suit. And when I do, I typically wear Wingtips or Oxfords. In the summer or warmer months, I typically wear dress loafers with casual or dress slacks as well.

If you want that style sunny get redback.redback is an Australian company and they still make them by hand, they tan their own leather and all that. It’s impossible to wear the soles out.
I be been wearing them in an automotive environment since 2004. I bought one pair of the other Australian boot company ( can’t remember the name) but they have been around sine 1888 or something and the soles literally fell apart in about 6 months. I imagine the docs are the same...China made.
This will be my last pair of the style though. My problem is the spandex sides always end up stretching and then they get sloppy, it’s just inherent in the design of these types...it’s like underwear, eventually the elasticity wears out and they lose the shape.also if you buy this style size down at least a half size if not a full size. If the leather is good it will take awhile but it will stretch and fit like a glove. If they are “comfy” at first they will be loose later....why not just get some of them snow pac boots. Doesn’t it snow up your way?

I have a pair of those. Salomons, which are way better than the Merrells. But they look funny to walk in to the courthouse. Even if I am just in a sports coat and slacks. Black plain leather will look better.

I have Red Wing work boots and Frye harness boots. I work in an office.
I also have an "inherited" pair of Justin Ropers, brown, I can get away with for the same purpose if I am wearing a brown belt that day. Works in many parts of Idaho, during snowy times anyway. But, not with a suit or true dress slacks. As @DFB says.

Nice, just looked them up. Was also checking out the Frye site after posting my previous comment. They have some really hip, dressy looking boots now.

I assumed you wore a suit to work.

Out here I see a lot of guys wearing cowboy boots with a suit.
In snowy weather I had boots for the weather, but brought a pair of Oxfords, and changed before work.

Yeah, cowboy boots with a suit is too country western and too rural idaho for me. Also, I am not Gerry Spence (Jackson, Wyoming). Where I am, I am usually in a blazer, tie, button down, slacks or chinos (moving away from khakis), and the shoes. I will be shopping for some more wool slacks with some cool textures/colours to replace some older stuff. I do wear a suit some days, but not that often. It is a mountain town.

Red Stone Heritage.

DbDawg is right, they’re good boots. Haven’t had any problems with the elastics, though, and I’ve worn them a lot.

Blundstones are great as well, I’ve got a couple of pairs of those and they’re incredibly comfortable for my feet.

I’ve heard that Astorflex is pretty good as well, and that they’re a bit cheaper.
