Ah, Spring is here - Official Baseball Thread 2012

Yeah, I read that. It's their park, they can do whatever they want I guess. We'll see how that affects attendance, god forbid they sell out a Nationals game.

i think they're gonna give the Braves a run for the Wild Card. they could have a few sellouts along the way.

The NL East will be fun to watch this year. The Nats are young and have improved pitching, just a question about consistency. I'm not ready to bank on them yet, but I think they'll be better than the Miami Marlins.

the Marlins have too many questions to be serious contenders. they'll definitely be better than last year, but i don't think it's enough to get them into the Wild Card discussion. but i think the Nats can creep in. maybe they get eliminated in that Wild Card playoff game or something. but they'll have their first winning season.

New York Mets owners reach agreement to pay $162 million to settle claims related to the Bernard Madoff case. - CNN

That should help the team payroll.....

details:

they don't have to pay it until 2015.
it's payable over 5 years.
they may actually get money back, as they applied for $178 million in loss recovery.

team payroll will be around $100 million for the foreseeable future. they just need to stop paying the majority of it to 3 players.

Phils have their own problems. Utley leaves camp to see a specialist, knee not improving... he's just about done. We will have zero offense this year, it'll be a repeat of last season. Losing lots of 1-0 games.

The Phils/Giants games this season should be awesome displays of infield ground outs. How long is Howard out for?
