Your 2018 year in gear

I bought a few pedals and switched out some pickups, but the main event was the trip to Rocky’s in Brooklyn and the new Falcon!

How are those Roli Seaboards?

Son loves it. He plays a lot of classical guitar and really likes wiggling the "keys" for vibrato. I do think it's goofy that you have to be tethered to a computer to use it. Gearfest is the end of June? The one we bought stopped working a month ago. Roli troubleshooted it over the phone, and Sweetwater sent the new one before we sent the old one back. Nothing but good things to say about both companies but, I am holding my breath to see that the new one lasts.

Son got the biggest one, 49 "keys". My daughter's roommate is a music major and she has the little one that you can connect to blocks. So, son was home for the weekend, and went to Barns and Noble. He found a Seaboard Block in the clearance section. Instead of $300, he paid $80 with tax. Sold it to daughter's roommate.

Also, Googled Roli, couldn't remember what the little one is called, and I saw Roli has rebates till Dec. 25th.

No amps or guitars this year. I'm pretty set in that regard. There might be something next year, but I've got a lot of work to do to make that happen.

This year started with the Maxon D&S.
Ryan built me an expression switch pedal.
I bought a remote switch pedal and a DOD Carcosa.
Nothing both before and after the move until a few weeks ago when I got an amazing deal on a Pedaltrain 2 Classic.
Then I finally bought a Truetone CS12 power supply.
Last week I got a crazy deal on an EHX SuperEgo+
I just bought some new cables so I can fix the routing underneath the board, which is a total mess.

That's pretty much it for the stuff that's stuck around.

I also bought and flipped a BOSS GT-1, Catalinbread Naga Viper, my Nux Mod Core and BOSS BC-1x I had bought last year, a DOD Bi-FET Boost, DOD Gonkulator, and EHX Green Russian; all of which allowed me to get the stuff I've bought this November/December.

Bought nothing, sold nothing, as usual.
I use the same ASAT I've used for years & years, the same amps. The same bass, etc.
You people buy & sell a lot of stuff.

I did buy some metal picks- I like them so much that I use them exclusively now.

I found a 0.8mm stainless steel Pick Boy pick in a gig bag many years ago & I am still using it.

This thing will never wear out; it's indestructible.

Using one single pick for the better part of 10 years has saved me a few bucks on pick purchases. :bigg:

But how much have you spent on strings?

More than I anticipated....

First up is the TDrive. Since the 90's I wanted to own a Trainwreck amp and when Ken Fisher passed, that dream ended. He told me that he would build one for me if he got better. Sadly he did not and he passed in 2004. RIP Ken...

So this is the closest that I will get to owning one. The pedal kicks major ass!!!

I have been collecting parts for this project since 2014. With the resurgence of the Tom Petty Tribute, the guitar is complete and being used.

I really didn't need another amp as I have some build projects pending. But I do have to be in the mood to build. This amp came to me from a Facebook ad. The price point was something that I could not pass up. A few minor mods and this amp is now cooking.

Another dream guitar acquired. Used to gawk over owning one from listening to Mike Campbell's story on how he bought one. Now I am the proud owner of 620-12.

I believe that completes the 2018 haul.

Plan to move some items in 2019.
