I did an early (for me) computer class in like 7th or 8th grade where they brought a computer into the school that ran on the punched paper programs. I think we learned to construct extremely simple programs on those paper card things. Barely remember seeing a computer again until I was in college when a few friends had Apple IIs or Commodore PETS.

Vic20 with no storage.

I had to input my programs every time I powered it on.
It sucked when I started writing a clone of Centipede.
I got a tape drive right about when I was done the program.

I did punch cards to the main frame in college in the 70s. Then I learned a little basic on a Commodore 64 a friend had in the early 80s.
But the first computer I bought was around 92-93, an Apple Performa. It was around the same time we got Windows machines at work.
Dial up internet and Cubase midi sequencing, hot damn!

Commodore 64. Then Amiga. Still have them both in the garage. Good memories abd some of the tunes on the c64 were great.

For me it was c64, c128, then Amiga.

Mine was a Mac SE with duel 800k disc drives. I wrote my dissertation on it and did a lot of work arounds to get it to do what I needed it. It is sitting in my ex's garage, cold and forgotten for almost 18 years.

We still had punch cards in the late 80's at NASA. Cutting edge, baby!
These controller panels were still in use into the mid 90's for the MCC.

The first one I owned was a C64.

I had the 5.25" floppy drive (up-step from the cassette recorder attachment, if memory serves).

So decadent!

The first computer I owned was a Mac Classic. 2MB RAM, baby.

The first computer I used was a Pet, but I soon graduated to an Apple II.

I switched schools a lot when I was a kid and my dad bought me whatever the school used. The first computer I got was the Atari 800xl. I had about a thousand bootleg games for that thing. But I had an apple IIc, Comodore Vic 20 and 64. Eventually we got one of the first Macs. I think my dad only bought it for was Mac playmate.

VIC-20, then a Commodore 64, and then a couple of Amiga's. A Packard Bell was the first Windows machine followed by a couple more I can't remember before I realized I was throwing perfectly good parts away and started building my own.
