What to do in Vegas?

Head northwest to death Valley and on your way you can stop at one of the brothels and "do it"

Love is an amazing show. That’s the Beatles themed Cirque show, but there’s not to much circus to it, which is a good thing.
My wife was just there with her sister and they saw One, the Michael Jackson Cirque show and they thought it was spectacular. Warning, there’s hologram content.

If you like magic, Mac King is the best in town. He does a clean family-safe show, but he’s funny and he’s a great magician. Penn and Teller highly recommend him. Speaking of which, go see Penn and Teller. They are a blast and they do a meet and greet immediately after the show and stay until everyone is happy.
Another to consider is Matt Franco. Great show.

Nine Fine Irishmen in the NY NY hotel and casino is fun for food and drinks.
Sadly, they’ve taken the Pail of Sausage of the menu, though.

Mexican food? http://lindomichoacan.com/
The original is on East Desert Inn Road. I’ve been to that one a few times. My wife just went to the one in Henderson. Her cousin is local and that’s the one he prefers now.

Red Rock Canyon is beautiful and a lot closer than Grand Canyon.

The big Ferris wheel is worth it for the sights. I think there is a pass that you can get that will let you ride twice in a day.
So, once in daylight and once at night. Don’t quote me on that though.

Thanks.

Penn and Teller are definitely on the agenda.

The Rio used to be fun, but the last time we were there they’d stopped the balloon parade.
The casino was more or less a ghost town.

There some decent restaurants there. So, dinner and the show and then go somewhere else afterwards.

Buy some really good legal pot at The Grove.

Go to the shitty-ass Silver Sevens for great burgers, strong drinks and budget gambling on the cheap. REAL VEGAS PEOPLE. THE BEST PEOPLE.

Have some of the best Thai food on the planet at Lotus of Siam.

Go to the Nuclear Testing Museum.

See a Whitesnake tribute band at Vamp'd.

See what's hanging on the wall at Ed Roman's.

Pick a number between 1 and 10?

Go to the top of the Stratosphere and ride the rides. , Walk thru the mall at Ceasars, If you are a boxing fan there are fights almost every weekend, Downtown Vegas is more of the Old Vegas and worth seeing. Ya'll gonna hate but the Donnie and Marie show is really good! I took my wife for a show and Meet and Greet for our 117th anniversary a few years ago.

117 anniversary!!!! I thought I had been married a long time but I only have 45 years in. I bow to you. You are the King of marriage.

Go over to Counts Kustoms. It's free to wander around Danny's private car collection. There's a lot of nice stuff there. Also, you can go to the Pawn Star's pawn shop. Also free. Rick has a bar/barbecue place next door that I here he hangs out at most nights. Go to the Las Vegas Neon Graveyard. Full of all the old time Vegas strip signs. I think its $10. There's also the Mob Museum. Absolutely go to Fremont Street. If you're at all a fan of the weird and bizarre you have to check it out. Also there's a really cool toy shop there that the guy who's the Pawn Stars toy expert runs. Lot's of cool vintage toys. Fremont Street casinos claim to have the loosest slots.

If you want to gamble for free, go down the strip and stop in every casino and sign up for a rewards club card. You'll find a lot of the casinos are same ownership so you can't get a card every time but you will find some give as much as $25 free play. I think we left Vegas with about $25 in winnings and spent nothing.

Never been there, I only know that if I do I would go to Cirque du Soliel because I would get in for free. My connection is not good enough to send around strangers though.

Former resident.

Really depends on what you like. Here's a short list of stuff mentioned by others that I also like(d):

- Love / really any Cirque show. I would humbly suggest that a) you do your best to explore the 'same day cheap seats' options since you're there for a while; and b) if you can, splurge to be up close if it's a Cirque show with a lot of acrobatics.

- Strip joints. If this is your thing, say so and I can give you some suggestions.

- Hiking / nature. Thank goodness the tourists ignore Red Rocks and Zion is quite uncrowded in winter. If you're a rock climber, Red Rocks has amazing single pitch routes and local guide services are reasonable. Also tons of great bouldering and scrambles. The Turtlehead Peak hike is not easy, but it's short and has a fantastic summit view. Zion is .... Zion. If you wind up going, please mind that you really, really are better off in Springdale than other nearby towns. The Zion Pizza and Noodle company has good pasta and pizza and great salads.

- Rides. I was not into the top of the Stratosphere, but the coaster at NY, NY is great, and again if you can go on a non-weekend day, you can avoid a crowd.

- Any performance. Penn and Teller, Britney ... it honestly doesn't matter. I have seen a large # of performances in my life, and the overall quality of stagecraft / support / sound systems / etc. in Vegas is unparalleled. Let me say that I got dragged to Blue Man Group against my will, and loved it. Things are just so well done.

Things locals do:

* Table 34. Dinner menu URL: http://table34lasvegas.com/dinner-menu/
This is where locals go to have a nice but still-casual dinner. It ain't cheap, but in my opinion you will have a MUCH better meal and dining experience there than at one of the 'marquee' restaurants in the casinos.

* Hang out at the District at Green Valley Ranch mall. A better option for shopping and casual dining than the options on the Strip.

* Hike in the parts of Red Rock National Monument other than the 'Red Rock loop road.' If you are willing to invest a quick couple of miles on a flat approach, the canyons of the Spring Mountains are impressive. The cool part is you can also be back in your casino pool within an hour from just about anywhere. Plus: burros.

* Drink at the Double Down. (doing my best Lloyd Bentsen here) "I've seen a lot of punk rock. The Double Down is pure punk." Wall covered in stickers. House drink is (was?) 'ass juice,' served in plastic cup. CD jukebox features 999 and the Germs.

* Valley of Fire State Park if you don't want to drive up to Zion.

Plenty to do once you get away from the strip.

Excellent mountain biking there now that it isn't blazing hot.

Several excellent tattoo artists are there if you want something a little more permanent.
Second that, Bootleg Canyon is fun for bunny hopping scorpions and rattlers.
Pawnshops are always fun if you go down to real shitty part of town. I got a vintage Russian Big Muff for $80 one year

I love boxing but the only stuff that google pulls up is an extortionate tour of some famous gyms and a UFC card. Any idea what venues / where I could find some action?

My wife is genuinely interested in seeing that

I've told her she can go and see it if she wants but I won't be there. There's a big football match one when I'm over there (which will start at something stupid like 4am given the time difference) so I might buy her a ticket to this so I can disappear and spend the night watching the game.
