What fast food joint is your state/city famous for?

100% agree. There's something about those grease soaked, fried in the shell tacos that should never change. Jeez, I have had one of those in probably 20 years. My brother used to love 'em.
JitB will never change their tacos. They are horrendous in an awesome way. People who order them expect them to be consistent. If you want a real taco, you know where to get one, it's Ca.
You're from San Diego?

Jack in the Box - I haven't been to one in decades. It was our high school midnight munchies stop since all the other fast food drive-thrus were closed. The tacos tasted like what I imagine cat food to taste like (never tried my cat's food). They have had so many attempts at upgrading, I tried them twice over the years after they upgraded their menu each time. Still tasted like crap. There's one down the street from me and I haven't went there once in 18 years. They might be good now, but I'd never know it.
Jack Tacos are a gawddamned American treasure. Any man who thinks otherwise is a damn commie!!!

they may have gotten better over the years, as I said I wouldn't know. The ones I ate were made of cat food.

Of course they are still the same, they use the same cat food they always have. JitB IS owned by Purina after all. Has been since 1968.

Wikipedia says:

"Jack in the Box's most popular product is its taco, which it has sold since the first restaurant in the 1950s. As of 2017, the company sells 554 million a year manufactured in three factories in Texas and Kansas to "a legion of fans who swear by the greasy vessels even as they sometimes struggle to understand their appeal", The Wall Street Journal reported. The newspaper quoted one fan who compared it to "'a wet envelope of cat food'" and observed that "there are two kinds of people: those who think they’re disgusting and those who agree they’re disgusting but are powerless to resist them"."

I ate dog food one time as a kid. Just one piece of dry. Just wanted to know what it tastes like. and I understand people say something tastes like shit, without actually ever eating shit. You can get an idea from the smell. Still, I call bullshit that you have never ate cat food. Really? Not on a bet? Not on a dare? Just really stoned?

When we went out west the first jack we went to I ordered a breakfast sandwich. it was eggs, a chicken patty, bacon and something like hollandaise sauce. Every time we got near a Jack's I had another. I can't wait to get near another Jack to have another.

Yeah I've thought about it hard and I can't remember a time I ate cat food. I know I ate dog food once on a dare.

some dog buscuits aren't that bad. not a lot of taste, but not so bad you couldn't make do in a survival pinch.

Seems that the only chain thing started in PA was Winky's, which isn't a thing anymore. Was hardly a thing then, peaking at 42 outlets in the seventies.

I hate to say Cheesesteaks because that's so Philly, but I can't think of anything else.

Edit: Pleased to see Primanti Bros. Is branching out so well. I see a trip to Altoona in the future next time I'm home.

Quaker Steak & Lube started in Sharon, Pa.
they have 50 locations in 13 states.
