WHAT ARE YOU LISTENING TO......RIGHT NOW......Mk III

I think I'm turning emo at 52 years young :embarrassed:...I really dig this band

I had a student about 6 years back who turned me on to them, which is very strange because most of my students don't give a single shit about music. I mean they say they do, but when you ask them to specify they like ringtone pop, in Chinese.

So getting a bona fide 'I'm into midwest emo, I can tell you how that is specifically different from other emo' got a huge 'thank you!' from me.

By way of contrast, Japan is super into music and you find people really into niche stuff everywhere. People being incredibly into The Stray Cats or dub reggae or something.

So to cut a long story short, I'm not a big American Football fan, but as soon as I see their name I have this 'fuck yeah!' reaction, because it's forever linked with finally finding someone in my class who could speak passionately about music.

Ringtone pop

Yes midwest emo IS different from emo pop or hardcore emo, etc. I kinda like the midwest emo in general although some bands the vocals can be a bit much but AF, especially the first album hits me in the feels  but at the same time kinda makes me feel like

With David Lindley just confirmed having passed, this:

The guy could rock that's for sure.
Linda on vocals as well for a nice bonus.

I mostly prefer the non bald Billy era albums, revisited Gish recently…sounded so fresh when it came out, still a great one.
I've been listening to the Siamese Dream Deluxe version. What an album that for for so many reasons but the sonic sludginess of it....boy howdy did Billy have a sound, just amazing. There's heavier stuff out there but that sound was just perfect blend of everything.

and I'm definitely more of an 80's guy but these pink Pop Pumpkins videos really nail the era

the video is really great...wow!

Really well done, nice. I saw Roger on The Pros And Cons Of Hitchhiking tour one year after. The Final Cut has grown on me a lot over the years, seemed like a bit of a letdown after The Wall at the time but I’ve grown to appreciate it a lot more.
