This may be of interest to @DdBob and @Motorik, in case you haven’t heard of him and his Monkees connection…he generally gets lumped into the acid casualty group along w/ Syd/Roky/Skip Spence but is further off the radar. Tragic backstory, but a pretty major talent. https://pleasekillme.com/craig-smith/ https://dangerousminds.net/comments..._golden_boy_turned_lost_psychedelic_genius_th

He wrote The Monkees’ Salesman (and actually auditioned for them), Craig Smith aka Maitreya Kali.

Interesting backstory , thanks for posting that !
Speaking of interest perhaps you already posted this band but of all places I heard it on forestry forest's YT . Normally forestry only has royalty free music or even his own recordings (which I didn;t know until just now that he even dabbled in music) if any music (because he;s the most low key non you tuber tuber going) but this was one of his earliest videos back when he did "bikepacking" trips for months at a time . Now he just climbs peaks sometimes with his Jack Russel dog or cooks in his van out in the outback of Canada :embarrassed:....anyway the band he had for background was called Allah Las (album "worship the sun") and they actually have like 6 albums on Apple music over about 10 years in the "west coast psyche rock "

Damn, that's a horrible story. :frown: I don't think I'd ever heard of him before, but the music's great!

I just previewed the links, I’m def. going to be watching and enjoying…I don’t think I’ve heard of that band but sounds right up my alley, thanks!

Some of the two albums he released (at pretty much the same time) are interspersed with material from his late 60’s psych band The Penny Arkade (they recorded an album which wasn’t released until 2004, which is a shame because there are some great songs). These are worth the listen:
