Walnut Hollowbody Build

Here, I stuck the brace on with double sided tape to test fit. After a few adjustments, I got the location marked accurately (I hope )

I want to get some finish down on the neck at least right away. At this stage, where everything is sanded, I don't like risking wood damage due to handling any more than necessary.
So I sanded the neck to 400 then stained and washed it. Then some polish with a bare towel to a sheen.
It's ready for a coat or two of oil I believe.

Haven't dropped by for awhile but, WOW! That's getting to be something fine. That neck/head stock transition is a killer.

Thanks. I like my volute.

That's gonna be one sweet playing neck.

Hope so.

Meanwhile, I had my first glue joint failure in I don't know how long. The cherry brace popped right off and curled up like a sleepy cat when I took off the clamps.
I suspect that I didn't let it dry long enough after I scrubbed it with mineral spirits.
So, I cleaned everything up and made a new walnut brace. A little narrower but also a little thicker.
I've also applied a couple coats of shellac inside the body and I think I'm finished inside.
